Does anyone know if Prime will show more hockey as the quarters, semis and finals near? A friend and I were going to watch this mornings scheduled game at 9am only to find it had been replaced by curling and snowboarding; the next scheduled game is on Tuesday and the first mens game Prime is showing is the first quarter-final.

I’ve bumped Sky/Prime an email asking them and stating my general disappointment with their hockey coverage. The NZ Ice Skating Association is asking all its members to encourage Prime to show more figure skating than is scheduled; perhaps we should do the same if Prime is not planning to show more hockey?

I think it sucks that prime only show olympics during the day and nothing at night. Us working people without sky (a big proportion) get to see bugger all

Can’t you just work at night and watch TV during the day?

Wtf…they want more figure skating on Prime? its already every afternoon all afternoon….

Whats up with the hockey commentary.
first-timer shots?
Apparently you can’t standstill with the puck in hockey according to the commentator? is that actually a rule that isn’t enforced, or was numb nuts just plain wrong.

Also the slovaks were doing poorly cos they could only maintain possession for 25 secs. Which to me seems like great puck control

Also there seems to be no wrist shots only flick shots???

It’s somewhat a rule. The puck has to be in motion. You can’t just shut off a puck against the boards and hold it there if you’re not being checked. A goalie can’t hold the puck in their glove if they’re not being pressured. You can’t wait behind your net forever running down the clock.

(That might not be what the commentators were saying of course).

Yeah, the Prime “coverage” is abysmal. An insult not only to hockey, but winter sports in general.

And the daytime emphasis on skating is getting tedious — dancing with the stars, except no stars except the skaters’ sequins.

And I’m no fan of Don Cherry, but that Pom who is commentating on the hockey is strictly from hunger, but maybe he dresses better than Don Cherry.

They added a new one tonight apparently the shootout has been renamed “Game winning shots”, it was a shame ovie could only score 1-3 of his game winning shots….not the 0-2 the commentator insisted on..

He also failed to recognise Ovie had scored two goals in his previous outing, leaving him scoreless in the commentators mind

He didn’t notice that the stats shown sometimes say “tournament” or “game”. In his defense, he didn’t watch Russias first game because Man Utd was playing Real Madrid.

For some reason, from the TV guide it doesn’t look like Prime is covering the USA v Canada game today.

And I checked SKY — the game is on 1:30 to 4, but it isn’t being replayed! So I’m having to learn in a hurry how to use my ancient VCR on a timer.

But for all you curling fans, there are plenty of curling replays on today.

If someone manages to download a copy of the game, could you post a link to it here or let us know how to get hold of our own copy?

Thanks

Bring enough beer for me and you to my home and we can watch on mySKY

Any copy you find that was from SKY, I highly reccomend turning the volume off so you don’t have to hear that muppet from England speaking about which he doesn’t know. A soundtrack made up of cats in heat would have been a better complement to the game than this fool!

Honestly guys download sopcast, then go to myp2p.eu and stream the hockey from there, not only do you not have to have sky, you get american or canadian feed so they know what they are talking about, and they do indepth analysis.

I watched Russia Czech game at home yesterday and it didn’t lag once….

Some of us have to, y’know, work during the day. So shut up about being able to actually watch the ice hockey. Downloading the USA-Canada game now, will watch it tonight.
