    An old Rob Lowe/Patrick Swayze movie is on this Sunday on C4. Youngblood is about a young hockey player moving up to a rough league and learning to fight.

    It’s a pretty awful movie, but entertaining all the same. And there’s some early 80s hockey.

    I remember watching this movie with my cousin Chris when it first came out on VHS in Alexandra . Him and his mate Andre started playing hockey back in the 80’s on the Manorburn dam. I’m not sure if the movie inspired them to play, or if they were already playing at the time, but my cousin ended up on the Ice Blacks, Andre is still playing hockey to this day and all of Andre’s younger brothers either ended managing ice rinks or playing for the Ice Blacks.

    I’m not sure where I’m going with this … it seemed like an interesting tale before I started typing it …
