Im gonna use south to North logic. Logic tells me that Dunedin although very much south aint gonna make the finals. That leaves the stampede being my favourite because they are the next southernmost team and part of Otago. Of course if they dont make the final Ill support the next southernmost team,Canterbury (reluctantly) against an Auckland team. Because my knowledge of Auckland is scant logic tells me that I cant rightly support any Auckland based team and also because they are ….well… Aucklanders.
Wow! logic is so profoundActiveMemberIts an interesting topic this whole “moderation” thing. I for one will be attending the new forum because I quite enjoy most of the banter that goes on between everyone. What is distastefull is people ripping off other people under some hidden identity. Its like writing on toilet walls. it says more about the values of author than the recipient. If you want to slag off someone be a “man” (or “women”),identify yourself, stand up for what you believe and you will learn something valuable. What all the hiding sniggering writers dont realise is the joke is you.
ActiveMemberDoes this mean they have walked out for good?. Not particulary team inspiring stuff. Theres lots learning for both caoches and players I feel.
ActiveMemberI remember that now. In that case Thunder were playing rugby against a chess playing Devils
ActiveMemberWhilst we are on the subject of jerseys, big ups to our new sponsor (ahb I think). Luke is an ex Dunedin player and only 23 years old. The last time he was here he was helping build the curling rink. Now he has a property financing company in Australia with branches in Melbourne and Sydney and wants to open branches in Chch and Brisbane . I hope he keeps doing well and wants to keep sponsoring
ActiveMemberThe only comment I remember him making was in regard to the lack of heart from our team. I didnt think it was lack of heart more like a different skill level between the teams. whilst the odd thunder player could foot it with them the depth was not there
ActiveMemberActually one of the funniest “hurtfull” moments ive seen in ice hockey is at the Erewhon Cup in Alex when Blake after giving the Queenstown players heaps on this very forum went hurtling into a check on one of the said Queenstown players only to miss, hitting the boards and breaking his arm. Some might have seen the irony in it but not me of course . I can safely rip off Blake cause I know he would laugh as stated earlier
ActiveMemberThe door wasnt shut properly. Man you should have heard the langauge directed toward James after that hit but I did notice not many confronted him on the ice after that
ActiveMemberLooking at the Canterbury team and their depth and skill in NZ born players it became apparent that the ability to compete at this level lies with our peewees and the coaching that they are geting now. Thunder were out played by better skilled players who knew how to play the game with vision and pace.

Take aim………ActiveMemberI have no idea what you mean. my spelling is imaculat
ActiveMemberI heard they were a different colour and there is a name change from the “thunder” to “the sponsors”
ActiveMemberOn paper the Devils are a stronger team and should win both comfortably so im going for 2 nil to the thunder
ActiveMemberI see nothling in it.
ActiveMemberjeez ref, the only mention of bad officiating was from a Canadian living in Canada commenting on last years game and I seem to remmember there was an element of truth to that comment.
I heard a rumour that the thunder are getting some new high tech jerseys that are gonna give at least a two goal per game advantage to them. All very secretive. Dunedin Thunder: best dressing room and best dressed award. -
