Old timers may need a goalie. You must be nearly ready to fit in that category any way Vince

I guessed 9-0 to the Ice Blacks Vince. Can I have the T shirt now?

As I remmember it as the greek breakaway was about to shoot and the ref put up his hand for a penalty on the Greek pony tail defence running interference, let the game run in case of NZ getting advantage, then signalled no goal when it went in and put the Greek pony tail in the box for 2 minutes. Seems pretty simple to me.

    Hey Defence 101
I was right next to the ref with chips in my hand when he put up his hand prior to the greek goal going in so your 5-10 seconds is completley wrong. It took about 5-10 seconds for people to register it wasnt a goal.I thought the reffing was pretty efficient all round with NZ deserving to win but the geek goalie was outstanding and making life difficult for nz  to win.  It was a great game to watch. I sense the crowds are getting bigger and Im sure most of the audience from the Greece game will want to come back for the final NZ game.

    hello Hendrik
Congragulations on being the fall guy for bashing your head against council brick walls because someone has to do it. I dont envy your job but admire your perseverence and dedication.
As someone who was heavily involved in the design and bureaucracy of establishing the Dunedin Ice rink I am mystified at the 500k extra price tag of a concrete rink. In Dunedin The hockey rink is in sand and the curling rink is in  concrete. For the curling rink the costs were quite similar for a sand or concrete base. Sand is cheaper but the labour costs were cut down dramaticly for concrete. I know in Wellington you have a much greater distance to transport concrete but wouldnt the same be for sand?. I realise there are other parameters dictating your type of rink base used but I would suggest that you may be off the mark in that particular costing

ISD (Ice Sports Dunedin) have only just come up for air after paying for the mezzanine floor and changing rooms(Has everbody seen the new changing rooms). The grandstand behind the boxes is on the long term want list and probably wont be done by the winter games unless someone comes up with some money fast which wont happen whilst the stadium (rugby) is going ahead because thats where most available public/private funding is being directed. In the meantime the next round of funding will go toward a kitchen, toilets, heating, lift, bar and carpet to finish off the mezzanine floor. The seating over the curling rink was going to be temporary paid for by television but there has been a very loud silence on this issue so I understand. Overall a lots been done and there is still more planned.

Actually you can build rinks both in concrete and sand in NZ. The last built two were in concrete being the Dn curling rink and Tekapo. Christchurch is even thinking of retrofitting there rink to concrete. The reason why there is zero prospect of multisport is that there is no need here cause other complexes cater to that and rinks are busy enough without melting there ice or investing in a floor to place over the existing ice which can also be done on a sand based rink

Yes well! the board decided to appeal to a wider range of the community and we had done the family thing so we thought “whats next, gays, yes” so we all had a vote and unanimously decided hot gay couples are our new target market. Pidgeon breeders are in our sights next.

This sunday 30th November sees the ice show finishing at 6pm. So that means a 7 pm game for those who wish to play, not at 6pm
