We have tried in SIHL for the last year or (two) to establish a farm team system for Thunder and Stampede. Where Juniors and players of all ages that aren’t quite up to scratch for Thunder can play and develop their skill set.
This will provide a good stepping stone into the elite teams.

However there was very limited interest in joining these teams, so nothing has progressed.

From my sources in AIHL, they are planning it mid-late June. In middle of season, they want it held after the two teams from each league have played each other, so they can use that to seed them.

Yeah, I think the verification line is a good idea. Clearly it will not help in all situations, i.e. glove save over line, but it helps remove some doubt in certain situations.

The hybrid icing they are talking about seems like it will add to much pressure to the officials. Pretty much the far linesman has to make the call at the face off dot who will win the race to the puck. If he deems the attacking player is clearly in the lead the icing is waved off, if it would be a tie or a win to the defensive player then it is called. Seems iffy.

The bear hug rule, just sounds like legalised holding.

Age isn’t the point I was getting across. Junior gear is not an age thing its a size thing, besides Juniors is up to 20.
For all I know Jaimee has senior gear so that would be fine. I am just speculating based on her size she might still wear Junior gear which offers less protection.

As Kyle says the point is moot she has played, and played well.

Yeah good on Jaimee. It would have been scary, she performed really well.

Still doesn’t mean I think it is safe, but thats okay.

The other thing you need to realise Ryan is younger goalies generally wear Junior gear which is not a well-protected as senior mens gear. But I guess at the end of the day if she is happy to be out there, then I am not going to stop her.

True that Graeme. Well done for her to be brave enough to step out there.

    Just seems an odd decision

It is an interesting decision to put Jamiee as backup. While it is a great opportunity for her, and for the most part she will just sit on the bench.

If something *knock on wood* happens to the Chinese goaltender then she will be thrown out in front of some guys with some serious shots, its almost unsafe.

I am concerned that my (atrocious) statistics caused you to fight and smash cameras in Queenstown.
In future I suggest you take more care when you look at statistics.

The South Africa second string side arguement is a red herring because they were still the second string South African team, as vpatrol said chosen by the nation body of their sport Rugby.

The Canadian and American teams weren’t sanctioned let alone selected by their national bodies.

I have no problem with people profiting the sport of ice hockey in fact good luck to them, as long as they go about it in an ethical way, and not use misinformation to sell tickets

P.S. Ryan I believe Cowgirl was being facetious….

Yeah credit where credit is due.

This guy is one hell of a promoter, regardless of what you think of his product, he managed to fill some massive stadiums in this country with people willing to part large amount of money to watch Ice hockey.
At the end of the day the fact this was essentially a two week booze cruise for some North Americans is largely irrelevant he did sell it.

Whereas trying to sell real hockey in this country for smaller prices, we struggle quite a lot, so I guess we should pick his brain regarding selling our product. Because he knows how to bring in the crowds.

I am still concerned in the underhanded misinformation campaign he used though. But I am sure some of his tactics could be replicated to some extent.

Since I didn’t actually attend this event it would be inappropriate for me to judge it. Anyone on here actually go, report?

Yeah that makes a whole lot of sense, that a local man that is from USA coaches the “national” team.

So the ODT let Douglas Webber write the article apparently.

Graeme makes 10 saves in 2 periods hailed a hero.

I heard that the game lacked natural intensity, and the players were just going for glory passes for most of the game. But the last 2 minutes looked like real hockey, but by that stage my source was bored.

Probably the best players ever to play here, but if you take out game intensity who cares?

So a proposal in Auckland, a marriage in ChCh (at half time, in ice hockey none the less, is that half way through 2nd period). Are we expecting a divorce in Dunedin??

So Kyle Quincey is getting on the Ice? I am sure the NHLPA will be ecstatic.
