Yes….this stupid fight is brushing over the controversial omission of the Stars from the finals.

See the Jets proceed using a point garnered from a shootout win.
Yet the next time a draw occured the two teams were not offered a shootout.

So effectively the Jets have a point no one else was eligible for

Um just to point out there is a time and place for fighting.
And so far none of the juniors seem to understand the point of hockey is not to go start fights, if the situation arises when you need to fight then do it.

If you go into every game expecting or wanting a fight, quit and do MMA or boxing or something

I would probably stop using Rugby as an example.

When they “cleaned up” rugby they destroyed it. When Rugby went professional it died.
The biggest area in Rugby they cleaned up was no rucking. What has happened now a lottery at the breakdown because the referee doesn’t know what to do.
Back when you could ruck, you put you hands on the ball you lose them, You lie on the ball you get some nice marks on your back, so the turnover is faster and you don’t get so much crap.

As far as fighting goes in rugby, I don’t really recall too many fights although most of my experiance is in this “new” era of rugby. All I will say is that the commentators and the fans love the biff…..

Fights don’t work as a marketing tool for hockey? I went to a bruins game in Boston there were 9 goals, all nice goals…..the biggest cheer of the night, when two boys dropped gloves and had at it…….

In saying that to encourage kids to play the game fights don’t work as a marketing tool, to encourage people to watch the game? Fights definately work.

P.S I don’t like fighting in a game , I think it detracts…..but you can’t argue with the general populous’ bloodlust

I didn’t see anything last night. Nor the incident in the changing room last night.

All I know is the verbal abuse coming from FYC towards a senior member in the club is appaling, and is nothing short of bullying, deserves a thumping. In saying that you can’t thump anyone these days, and therein lies the problem the kids know there is no consequence to there actions and continually harass this player to breaking point. I was disgusted with what I heard them saying to him. (pretty much along the lines of what vince just said….don’t talk the talk if you can’t walk the walk…)

As far during the game, the FYC are very scrappy team, tripping, elbowing slashing to incite a rise and they generally get it because they are so persistant in their infringements. The Ref needs to stamp that out immediately, or else you get what sounds like happened last night fighting, because the player being offended against, sees that he has to take matters into his own hands.
Oh i hear you say you can tell the ref, but honestly when you are being slashed for the 5th time in a couple of minutes you just lash out…….

All I can see is it completely takes away from the game, I don’t even know what the score was?

I have a very close relationship with my posts, (not as close as roy and his) but we communicate during the game. If they think they have got it, they yell “mine” and I leave it too them.

But posts don’t count as shots, Check it out…….

    SECTION 4?SHOTS
Article 1. A shot on goal is a shot that is on target. Results of a shot on goal must be either a save by the goaltender or a goal by the offensive team. A shot that hits the post
or crossbar and does not cross the goal line is not a shot on goal. If a skater blocks a shot headed toward an empty net,it is recorded as a blocked shot and thus not a shot on goal.Only a
    goaltender can record a save.

If you hit the post, the puck wasn’t going in, so I don’t know if that counts as beating the goalie <img decoding=” title=”Tongue” />. I don’t even think that counts as a shot.
Besides its like Charlie told Coach Bombay sure if you had shot half an inch lower it would have gone in, but if you had shot half an inch higher you would have missed completely.

Like I told James when the posts start counting as goals, I will stop using them to make saves…..

(NB// I know those two paragraphs totally contradict each other, with one saying hitting post doesn’t count as shot, and the other saying using posts to make saves. But I don’t care)

    5-4 to the Stars.

Good game. Jets opened the scoring with a Van Leuween goal, after he was allowed to walk in, and Bryant failed to square up to him.
The Stars hit back with two quick goals from Dunlop (replacing Sam, Shane, Corey, and Duncan) to go into the Second period up by 2-1.
The Jets again opened the period scoring with a 2-0 breakaway, with Van Leuween scoring again. But the Stars scored 2 more goals to Dunlop to lead the period 4-2.
(Stars 4 5th goals and jets 3rd goals may or may not have been in periods indicated.)
The final period saw a tense finish with Van Leuween again opening the scoring to make it 4-3, Stars hit back and were up 5-3.
A late scrambling goal from Pesant with 5 minutes to go, gave the Jets hope. But the Stars hung on, to remain undefeated.

I was essentially just a runner, getting three people to write on the same piece of paper, or different ones and letting kyle work his arts and crafts magic.

I got to attend the awards though really good event.
