ModeratorHaving been on the ice (abliet only for a period) I would like to say I didn’t see anything untoward from the Stampede. The game was a good physical match up like it should be. But there was nothing dirty, and I don’t know who starts these rumours about Stampede being a dirty team, they are not they play aggresively and to win which is why playing them is fun.
Also I would like to point out the Thunder out hit the stampede on Saturday night when the scoreline was closer. So Thunder can hit, hitting and then getting possesion of the puck is something that we have to work on.
We were outplayed, but both games even the 12-4 game were enjoyable to play in (open the gate for).
Thank you everyone for turning up, queenstown supporters included.
Ryan you realise the NZIHL website has been up for 5 months now with the same schedule, the games were advertised on the radio, posters around uni and town, and article in fridays ODT, and two full page ads in the critic, so sorry we missed you.Azzy77
ModeratorThe problem in Dunedin is the people who would do all that security and/or music are in the team.
It would seem any other hockey player in Dunedin has no interest in helping. As the thunder have never been approached by volunteers. We are currently looking for some one to do music this weekend, let us know if you are interested.

ModeratorYeah we were writing up things for ODT, and still do when we are away, they have reporters at the Thunder and Stampede home games therefore I don;t do as much then. They still ring or talk to me sometimes to get clarifiction on things.
Emailing schools is a good idea, and especially easy to do in Dunedin since we have high school league so have email addresses for all schools, I presumed this was being done but perhaps I shouldn’t assume so much…..
The posters were put up a week ago. The schedule was released in April so people in hockey circles should know when games are, we also gave the schedule to ODT and Channel 9. I assume Ryan had access to that.
We have no one involved at the moment you is very good with the internet, so if some one wants to pick up that ball we would be more than happy to hear from them.
I hear you Cowgirl on you trying to do things and people are like look they are being proactive stop it.,…
But yeah keep firing in suggestions I promise they will all be taken on board. I also promise we haven’t been sitting on our thumbs doing nothing, we just are reaching deadends.

ModeratorOkay kyle suppose we change it to the “rink”
Then how do you propose to fill the “rink” by which i mean the seating not the actual ice surface?
Azzy77
ModeratorWe told Blakes Grandad the ticket price was $10 000, so it will make up for 1000 people.
Yeah we had a tough draw, but the promotion could have been done better.
This weekend will be some sort of indictor of how not being in a uni break will effect the crowd. Otherwise we have to sit down and think how best to get people in the groundAzzy77
ModeratorI was thinking about tv but it might distract the other players…..might just get computer in the arm of lazy boy to update people on slapshot about the game.
Ask Vince about my commentary expertise…..everyone ask him i will send you videos…..Give me a job please
Azzy77
ModeratorI am thinking about getting a coffee maker and lazy boy installed on my side of the bench….

ModeratorI heard Stampede debuted two new players in this round.
Anyone with info on this????Azzy77
ModeratorI wish to be selected for the commentary team when does that get announced???
Good work Jamrock….be ready to take any opportunity given, as a entrenched backup goalie I know what thats is all about

Moderatormalicious – deliberately harmful
I admit i may have taking liberties with your post, but I assumed when you said the coach vandalized the rink you thought he did it on purpose, whereas I was merely pointing out he was venting his frustration in a inappropriate way.
I apologize if I misread your post

Jofaplaya you seem to spend a lot of time talking about being a fan of the Thunder so I just assumed they were your favourite team. You don’t seem to spend a lot of time talking about Stampede hence my confusion.

[/quote:1vpm2sbl]That could be true. But it has been happening for years now. As long as the NZIHL has been running. So you would have thought the refs from canterbury would have shared the secrets with the other teams.
OR
The other teams would have picked up what the refs were doing. Which
Anyway the Canterbury refs teach all other refs in South Island so shouldn’t there be some level of sameness with them and their protege?

ModeratorIts pretty much the team from Worlds this year isn’t it? With a few guys called in too cover those who are absent?
The North Vs South game will act as the trial for team next year won’t it?
But performing well in the Aussie games won’t hurt your chance of selection. What do people know about Blake Jackson, I have only see the guy play against Thunder and he didn’t really stand out? (i have nothing against him, just wondering if anyone has seen him play where he has shown why he is in the team)
Man i can’t write that last paragraph without making it sound like I am having a go. Just curious though I promise.

ModeratorThe Lighting and Sound shows for thunder were done last year. Mostly by Rhys, but to be fair it was driven quite a lot by Ryan Wick (Resdient in Canada now) and Aaron Bryant (playing/sitting on the bench for thunder). Those two did quite a lot of the boring work i.e. playing songs during game, and announcing goals etc…..
No one has come forward to man the music desk this year. Most people thought those shows just happened last year. A lot of hard work was put into them. If someone wants to step forward and take the reins please let us know.
Maybe Jofaplaya or Thundersbiggestfan? You two seem like dedicated fans perhaps you could volunteer to run the music, you would get free entry to watch your favorite team perform.
I don’t think the coach tried to vandalise the rink it looked more like he hit the wall out of frustration, which is not entirely appropriate. But it he definitely not try and maliciously vandalise the rink.
