Yeah I personally think five for fighting and that is the end of it like nhl styles is the way to go. Lets be honest some of the biggest cheers you hear in a hockey ground are for the fighting.
But if the rules state automatic suspension then a automatic suspension should be handed out. If none is handed out then there can be no automatic suspensions for any more fights this season. Because the precedent has been set.
Can someone who knows please enlighten us about automatic fighting suspensions?
Whether they exist or not???Because I don’t think there should be, but if it is in the rules and being looked over it is not an even playing field for all teams, its a dangerous precedent.
Anyone who fights now can say well I won’t serve any suspension because jacques and swarm guy didn’t…..
Just to clarify I don’t think Dunedin officially boycotted the Cup this year.
A lot of players decided they wouldn’t go if it was held in Gore.
So it wasn’t a club issue just a lot of individuals decided not to playYeah we probably were hasty in our boycott.
But I felt going to play a tournament in Gore, will just feel like any other southern league round.

Hence my proposal for the Azzy77 wonderdraw…..patent pendingPerhaps, the rinks need to be involved in a discussion on how to make these profits. Like Kelf said building a relationship with the rink.
Maybe this involves them taking a more proactive role in advertising the game.Or some sort of underwriting by the league so that they won;t lose money in a hockey game over a public session.
The thing the rinks should realise is if there is a good hockey game full to the brim with kiddies etc…. then there will be lots of lil timmys and johhnies turning up next week for skating lessons etc to play like there heros…..
I realise this is easier said then done, but I think there needs to be a think tank looking into how to fill stadiums around country it is better for NZ hockey if all the grounds are full.
I just made those things up in 2 mins so there maybe some glaring error, but I tried to make it so last years champion gets soft introduction break in middle and faces theoretically toughest opponents nearer end.
With the 2nd place team from last year getting similar easy introductionThe alternate way to look at it, would be to start of with last years final as other leagues do, I just merely offered one suggestion

Good call on the ability to switch what is the home round depending on the local festivals holidays etc
I think in terms of weekends you don’t or do. Instead of that each club/team should provide list to league of events or things in the region which could affect crowds adversely or beneficially and the league should take that into account.
But first priority is to have two full rounds with bye round in between.
We were given 2 hours last year to get the games in on tv last year on channel 9.
And with some slick presenting, and fancy editing we managed it just fine, even when Van Leuween tried to make the game all about him by putting his face into the net and stopping the game for so long they decided to ditch last 3 minutes…..
We had ad breaks between each period. And we had pre game run down, and post game interviews…..So it can be done.
I am pretty sure for the sake of 10-15 minutes of free hockey the public skaters wouldn’t mind waiting while the game finished….
