ModeratorYeah Thunder took a lot of stupid penalties in the weekend.
However they were a wee bit disturbed when they had a goal disallowed because a Stampede player moved the net, and no penalty was forthcoming.
Thunder acknowledge most of the calls they got against them were valid, with the possible exception of Braden falling over and Weir taking a tripping call. I think they were concerned more with the Stampede getting away with similar things and not taking penalties. (this maybe just a biased perception though)

ModeratorChin Strap.
We here at Hockey HQ, have to be careful about what is broadcast from this website as it comes under DIHA banner so people less compentant than yourself think that everything said is from the DIHA.Hence the topic was moved to the DIHA members area, since we know everyone in there. YOu say that there is a lot of banter between the teams but here it feels like everyone knows who are dunedin players and know one knows who these new people are.
And to be honest I love your contributions, and wish more outsiders (i presume you are one) would join and this move to the new domain will aide that.We are considering making it compulsary for new members to let the admins and/or moderators who they are, so we know they are hereto banter and not just stir, as have had a few people over the years attempt to create trouble by pretending to be someone else.
We are also discussing having a little thing indicating which NZIHL team (or region you are from) by your name, just to aide banter.
I have consulted ryan but i am sure he would agree we would like peoples feedback on these and other forum issues.

ModeratorI am not sure if you should hold the NHL up as the bastion of consistent jerseys…
Canucks anyone?? How many variations have they had over the years including the beauty below
The Sabres have gone from blue to black with a logo change in the mean time. The capitals used to have the dome thing now its a hockey stick.
In the NHL the teams jerseys change virtually seasonally.

ModeratorMy point was all the Jerseys quoted are from sports people in NZ watch.
I am pretty sure if I started showing Hockey jerseys from outside North America they too would be covered in advertisingAzzy77
ModeratorManchester uniteds away strip is Blue.
The warriors jerseys has more than one sponser.
I love it how people are all about brand recognition, the team has been around two years, it take teams longer than that to build a brand recognition.
Azzy77
ModeratorHaving the Sponser as the biggest name on the Jersey in not uncommon in regional sporting competitions, see the examples.
Also All Blacks is kind of different look at the Springbok or Wallaby Jersey again plastered in advertising.
You guys are all entitled to your opinion, I just like to clarify my stance on the advertising on jerseys.
Azzy77
ModeratorGood call active.
Also people should note most sporting teams in New Zealand and Australia have a small logo on the chest. And the rest of the Jersey is either blank or covered in sponsers.
See the NRL, NPC, Super 14 etc…
In fact this is the same around the world English premier league soccer etc…. the only place where an enormous team logo is found in in American Sports.

Moderator1./ I am not sure anyone’s comments quoted in the newspaper should come back to haunt them. It just how the journalist spins the story. But valid they didn’t come across the most diplomatic.
2./ Bode and Al won 1 game from the whole season. Bode and Al lost 17-1 against Red Devils.
We will wait until the end of the season before we make our comparisons.3./ I think a lot of people forget Bode and Al left they were not pushed. So I don’t think a vote would bring them back. Unless it was accompanied by a sack of money
4./ Bode and Al did a lot for the team, and to try and invigorate hockey in Dunedin and we won’t forget that.
Active i think chin strap is referring to the article printed when Jens first got here. When he was quoted as saying NZers play hockey like rugby on ice. When it should be more like Chess.

ModeratorYeah the thing is, being a late comer to the competition Thunder, had very limited choice over which colors they used.
But yeah fair call on the dullness.

ModeratorI think what Blake is talking about, keeps Americas funniest home videos in Business……imagine if they had a followup show then it wouldn’t be quite so funny…
Azzy77
ModeratorThat photo was the one that was meant to be in ODT.
They accidentally put wrong ice hockey photo in.Btw Thank you to all the people who came along and supported us, we will get back into training and hopefully give you more to cheer about next time we are at home.

ModeratorFor those of you that haven’t seem the Thunder Jerseys.
Azzy77
ModeratorFor those who don’t get jokes. We didn’t actually believe James eyesight was that bad he had to lean over to see the puck. We just said that because that would be a humourous caption for that photo.
I don’t know what James said, but given Hay’s reaction. I imagine it wasn’t the most gracious comment in the world. But that stuff is said every game, and most face-offs, in fact I know for a fact the Swarm were getting involved in some verbal warfare. But peter’s camera didn’t capture those moments. (Don’t get me wrong I love Peter’s photos, and I wish he was at every NZ game, because he captures a lot of great moments, even some man love moments. see picture)
[img:2mbuwv1d]http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3612/3624159185_07f657140d.jpg?v=0[/img:2mbuwv1d]The point is, this is just another Iconic photo moment like Ali standing over Frasier.
But yeah Vince I am a little concerned you are ready to concede a goal for everyone of stefans shots……
Azzy77
ModeratorJames eyesight is getting bad in his old age, he needs to stoop over to see if the puck is in the net. Unfortunately it has rolled out already compounding the problem. James really can’t see it.
Vince, Stefan said 5 shots, so if you let in 5 goals from that and some of our other players also shoot, you will need to score more than 7 to win.
Azzy77
ModeratorLook out for Dunedin’s new power forward….Blakey Sinclair scoring a goal after positioning himself well in front of the goalie, and picking up a sweet sweet Simon Christos Pass….
