Yeah that was the word I was looking at with apprehension, as well kyle….
I guess you are right canadians do seem to please themselvesAzzy77ModeratorAnd you are going to teach little kids how to spell??
Azzy77ModeratorTell me about it, I was reading what i wrote when Ryan replied.
I don’t know what to say, it was like 1 am and I had just eaten like a kilo of candy….
I am sorry.Azzy77ModeratorYeah I just was specualating on the reason they don’t advertise…. I was serious about camera work though…. I mean the all blacks advertise the ones the ones they won’t people to come to, but the yhave a butt load more that no-one is allowed to, well at least thats what they told us, on evidence from france you would have to wonder?
Azzy77ModeratorAre you guys sure they want us there??? Maybe they are closed trainings.
Especially knowing Ryan he would film the whole thing and upload it, and then all the other teams could figure out ways to beat them1!!!Azzy77ModeratorThats Treadmill might be really expensive, but we could do with some slide boards, and those spongey feet thingys…..
definately some things to think about
October 18, 2007 at 9:32 pm in reply to: Jets vs Sharks | DIHL B-grade Spring 2007 Semi-Finals #7341Azzy77ModeratorSomeone looking over my shoulder just asked me if I was watching West Side Story on Ice.
Azzy77ModeratorThe decision to stage a practise this week was last minute.
But I think most of the other practises were aware they were finishing last week. Certainly the midgets and juniors knew.
Maybe Advanced and Intermediate didn’t but from the turnout last week, I think most people had a fair inkling.
On the technology issue, I think a lot of people have email addresses the only person I can think offhand that doesn’t is Nigel Dobson. The issue is, that unlike us ubernerds most people find checking there emails more than once every two days a chore, as opposed to me who checks about once every 3-4 hours depending on how close the deadline for assignments is. THe shorter the more often I check.
With Texting, people are more likely to have read it. I text bombed, the information to everyone who I had a cellphone number for and jackie is going to pay me the whopping 4$ from the club, based on 20c a text.
I wouldn’t think it would be that hard if we made email and cellphone mandantory information at registration, to load them into a central database would it.
Even if you setup a hotmail/gmail account, with groups midgets/seniors etc it would be fairly easy to send bulk emails every time they need to be sent. And one person, or the club just buys a telecom phone and loads everyones numbers onto it, and texts it out, that way you can send 500 msgs a month for 10$.
Seems like everyone is trying to over complicate the process of keeping everyone in the loop.
Azzy77ModeratorUm i just had terrible thought Jackie definately told me juniors are finished
I am not 100% on midgets so you should check that
Azzy77ModeratorOkay here’s the deal
Jackie rang me last night and told me midgets and juniors are finished.
We are going to all turn up on Thursday at 7 because thats when she booked.
They will collect money $10
At this practise/scrimmage/love-in we are going to discuss the options that are in the poll.We may have 10 people we may have 50000
But this week is to gauge interestAzzy77ModeratorUm… Why don’t you have to be a gay or a lesbian to play gay and lesbian hockey????
Surely that defeats the point…what makes it gay and lesbian hockey then?? isn’t just a bunch of people playing hockey, where a few happen to be gay, don’t we have that already, if the closeted people are already playing?
Because if the point is to make the closeted person feel comfortable, if they won’t come out now, how will they if there are non-gay and lesbians playing with them or reffing them?? Surely its the same environment, i guess you could argue that only gay-friendly people turn up…but you can’t completely close the rink of to others….
I don’t know where I am going with this, but surely a gay and lesbian hockey needs to be played by gay and lesbians
Azzy77ModeratorChris did give an example of exactly what to type in

[/quote:24xv0urh]Its handy wee trick, got many movies and songs via this method, don’t tell the fuzz though, Americans do seem to like to store their stuff in weird places, and its is uber-fast
Azzy77ModeratorI think one of the benefits of an open grade, is that generally the people who are going to encourage new people to come along are people really into the sport, that have a passion for it.
The problem with the split grade is those with a passion, probably also play a lot, so are probably in A-grade.
Here’s the issue, if I say to my mate, hey you want to come along play Hockey, he will say sure can I be in your team? I say no cos you have never played before, you play b-grade by yourself, he’s not going to come along.
(This has actually happened to me on more than one occasion)Azzy77Moderator"Kyle":tbdbtpvu wrote:[I wonder if a student ice hockey club would help, and we need visibility on campus. Take clubs and socs day. It’s great that Deanna does that, but there should be an ice hockey player there the whole time….
[/quote:tbdbtpvu]Ryan Wick, Stefan, Zanzee and me were present for the entire clubs and socs day, under the banner of Dunedin Ice sports….
We had a lot of interest, but not all the people backed it up….
I not sure but I think Deanna (Canadain one, not Phil’s wife) was found there, abliet Megan may have persuaded her further"Kyle":tbdbtpvu wrote:What we also don’t do, is bring ice hockey out of the rink.

Personally I found the old DiHL more enjoyable, no offense to those guys running it now, cos different strokes and all that….
But new A grade DiHL is a bit competitive for me, I enojyed the old laid-back, mixed up DiHL, were you didn’t have Dynasty teams, coming back year after year, like the Phantoms, which who are we kidding here makes a bit of a mockery of the grading system…..
Everyone got mixed into teams, that way you got to meet new people, you wouldn’t normally hang out with, well the players did, I was all alone in my little blue semi-circle….
and the teams were fairly evenly matched because they stuck to the grading system…The first couple of new DiHLs stuck to the grading and they were even, but once we started letting established teams in, the balance was shifted…
Then people turned up to the end of season social event cos, everyone, well most people were over 18, and it was held at various places, instead of curlers backroom, one year it was at Carisbrook (I kid you not)
And another time, we played NHL 2002, all night….I have no point
