This is true Kyle but people only know that because you told them….
We had to use the players that were available for the shoot. Ideally, we would have had some older guys but beggars can’t be choosers…

I had lunch with them today (long story, but I didn’t know they were going to be there)

Pretty much they said they had NHL guys until IIHF poked there nose in, due to duress from NZIHF, which is probably valid, but I am pretty sure NHLPA wouldn’t be happy finding out after the fact their members were playing in NZ.

What I can tell you though is the players coming all have a lot of NHL experience, Bates Battigulia is coming. Along with some other names I didn’t know, but one of the Canadians at lunch did know.

Essentially no active NHL player is coming in a playing capacity. Kyle Quincey will coach team Canada, and Rob Schremp is NOT coming at all.

They wanted to have a third line made up of the import players in NZ, but it has been blocked by NZIHF

    JP – Shorthanded
    Remy – Power play
    Damo – Power Play
    Weirsy – Even
    JP – Even
    Gino – Powerplay

So only 3 powerplay goals according to my sources but I haven’t seen a scoresheet.

I hear the hit that knocked Darcy out, was ruled to be Boarding, but whether it was malicious or not is a different matter, my sources suggest his head was down, so made the hit worse…

Thunder wins 6-1 (1-0, 4-1, 1-0) in their opener in Auckland against the admirals.

JP Bertrand with 2, Remy, Damo, Parisy and Weirsy picking up 1 each.

    Good start boys….

There is also the trip to the Airport Vpatrol, and in Auckland that takes roughly 5 hours give or take.

Um I reckon Thunder 2-0 over admirals. Close game on Saturday and then walkover on the Sunday.

And Red Devils and Swarm to split the games 1 a piece. Really tight and close games. I reckon Red Devils to take advantage of Swarm fatigue on the Saturday, and then the Swarm to find their feet on Sunday and steal a win.

Connor Harrison continued to be a goalies worst nightmare, with his stupid laser shot. Seriously why can’t he miss the net sometimes?

Yeah the Red Devils should be more worried about people that haven;t pooed in gloves before.

Also warning to Thunder boys, I haven’t pooed in a glove before either…

I think that is probably pretty solid assessment of the event. (Way to give Devils scouting report Kyle!)

Thunder was using this as pre-season hence the use of every player and goalie on the Roster. Stampede were mainly sticking with two lines, but to be fair to them they were down a few players through sickness, injury and work.

They also lost their Swedish Import in the first shift of the game,

But other than that, what Kyle said.

I take it you have never been to Gore for hockey, I swear if Marita was preparing her food at a game 7 of Stanley Cup Cherry would be interviewing her, and she would be awarded the Conn Smythe
