I am not sure that is going to happen since training have begun and a squad has been named.

The trials were widely advertised, if someone missed out because they didn’t know about trials I suggest they contact head coach James Van Leuween, or Co-ordinator Dave Dunlop and plead their case.

Jens isn’t one of the two tournament goalies. He was on the intial list, but they only name two for tournament he will only feature if the other Belgian goalies get injured….

Huh you are right, they must have altered the schedule originally it clashed with every single game.

No one can get a straight answer out of the guy, apparently they aren’t associated with the Moose, but they are bringing the Moose. But who would know.

The game in Auckland in on a league Bye.
The game in CHCH conincides with a Red devils bye, so I guess they could be involved.
The one in Dunedin is the Wednesday before Thunder hosts the Stampede, so hopefully it doesn’t cause too much disruption to the training for the Thunder, and maybe we could try and get them to keep up the stands for that game? I mean if they can fill a stadium at $65 a ticket, we should be able to do it for $10 a ticket…

    Thanks for the Faith Ryan…

There are a lot of exciting things going on at Thunder at the moment, I think we will perform quite well this season.

Although without seeing the other teams, I feel its a bit early to make prediction

I never use RSS feeds to check news ever…. but for those of you who do, how do we restart it?

Look I am not saying we did it perfectly, all I am saying is if you actually wanted to make the team, you would have looked at the website, or emailed or rang someone you know that could put you in touch with the relevant people. The ice hockey community isn’t that big.

It wasn’t a hidden trial, and many people that have never played Thunder before trialled so they must have found out about it somehow.

Look maybe we dropped the ball slightly, but if people really wanted to trial for Thunder they might have checked the website once.

There is a link off the Dunedin Website to the Thunder page, and the trials were on the front page until the cut-off date, and can still be found in the news archive

If you have any ideas how we could have reached more people I would like to hear it please?

The trials were posted on the Thunder website for two months, there was an email sent around all SIHL clubs, and the clubs were asked to inform their members.

Yeah if advertised Truthfully. If they were advertising a game between decent players from North America that would be fine. But their less than ethical tactic of saying “Canada vs USA” all the time leaves one a little less than charitable towards them.

My favourite part, is that we will all get foam fingers if we attend. Hey its two teams of beer leaguers but don’t worry, we will all get foam fingers, and really isn’t that all we want in life a large novelty size foam finger??

Also I like the rule the team with the most goals over 3 game s wins.
    Imagine this: Game 1. A:5 B:4 , Game 2 A:3 B:2 Game 3 A: 1 B: 4

Team B wins on account of its goals = 10 and A’s only being 9 even though A won 2 out of the 3 games. Why to think it through…

I also notice reference to NHL players has been  omitted from this press release.  I smell covering their arses. Especially the part about understanding about injury and legal obligations, seeing as they have only named two players that means those two players aren’t coming, pretty much. Because I don’t expect the other players would pull out from injury in the 2 days between being named and expected to play.

And while I am ranting “…those who have been to an American Hockey game, know the hockey is only 1/2 the attraction…” well that is the case if the game is boring or lame, the last game I went to  in America, at half time they had two pee wee teams playing, I didn’t see a single firework, and I think everyone must have eaten their foam fingers, because I couldn’t see any of them either. One suspects Douglas and Webber have never been to an American Hockey game.

I just like saying American Hockey game because I know it annoys Vpatrol

Wouldn’t their Ad proclaiming “For the first time ever in NZ, International Ice Hockey” be a lie?

On the Moose Brochure they list someone called Kerry Goulet, maybe that’s who they meant? Is he in the relevant sections?

Yeah I think bit of overreaction getting the cops involved. It was undoubtedly a late hit, but if it was on the other side of the rink, we wouldn’t have even heard about it.

I was talking to Vpatrol, and like he said its no different to if in Rugby a guy decides to give another player a bit of an extra shove as he is going out of bounds and trips and breaks his neck on a camera mount or a advertising hoarding. Or even being tackled into the goalposts (ala Kevin Locke)

The injury was caused by the location not the act. And that is not Chara’s fault. I think the deeper issue is a safety one caused by rink design.

I think maybe they should look into making the area safer, why not have glass that kinda of curves instead of 90 degrees, so if you are hit into it, so slide around it, instead of just stopping, which is where the injury occurred. It is also only there to separate players right? There is nothing really in there, is there a a way to make collapsible? So that when (and it will happen again) it happens again, it gives, so the player isn’t taking all the force?

I mean it is similar to how goals used to be bolted into the ice, that caused countless injuries, until they made them loose, so a hard enough impact would remove them from their moorings, to cause less injury.

Also I tried googling their hall of fame broadcaster Terry Toulet, and it asked if I meant Terry TOILET?

Anyone actually heard of him, I tend to live my life on if you can’t be googled you don’t exist….
