Look man I’m not getting titchy, I’m just saying give other players a chance before you guys jump up. I mean you already do have a game against them, let the other players play as well. We all pay our dues and are in titled to play. I’ve got nothing against you team, and I think it’s great that you guys always want to play but you also have to realise there are other players in the club who want these opportunities as well. And by the looks of it, Kyle is doin the right thing by giving players who aren’t on the beasts team first dibs, so I will retract the comments made before. Does that satisfy you guys?

Can’t remember what Joe said, but put him wih the Sunday team. It would be a good system with him and Zanzee on the points.

in reply to: Re: New Dunedin Name (See below for concepts) #4854

Well that’s why the the group who is working on the name stuff needs to meet so we can pick the names. However, mockups would be a problem because there there are so many ideas for those names for logos so I wouldn’t count on any mockups. We are picking a name, not a logo or colours. Sorry. Once we have a name, everything else will fall into place.

in reply to: Re: New Dunedin Name (See below for concepts) #4852

When are we going to meet for this? The time limit is over for name submissions and all I’ve got so far is the following:

“Dunedin Tigers” from my class up at Mornington School
“Dunedin Thunder” from the boys on the prems team
“Dunedin Storm” Also from the prems team

So far that’s all I’ve got. The thing from the student teachers didn’t work because the stupid university emailing system screwed up and did not send the email to my prof who was going to forward it to the students. I was only told this a day before they were due in. So that screwed up. I think we would have gotten a lot more names if the university system didn’t screw up. Anywho. Lets get the ball rolling with these names. What we need to do is meet. Take all the names then pick the top 3, then take them to the next board meeting and vote on them then. That will get rid of the big part of this project. I suggest we meet this week because the next board meeting is on July 2nd I believe.

Myself, Dianna and Phil Pilak-Jones are doing the Cadbury Cup. I have the roster preliminary roster for Canterbury and yes he is on there. I will forward a note to Deanna about that. Also can you forward me a copy of that banned player list so I can go through and check? cheers.

in reply to: Anyone want to see NHL games live in NZ? #5303

Okay lets get off the broadband plans and back on topic here. WOw why are you guys being so negative towards this? Think how much kids would actually learn and benefit from this? instead of seeing highlights of goals and fancy crap on youtube, they can actually see a game where that stuff does not happen on a regular basis. What I see is a lot of kids watch these highlights of Ovechkin and Crosby and only see the pretty goals, when in fact they don’t happen as often as they think. On top of that, it would give kids a chance to see other players and thier style of play, like a Chris Chelios or a Jerome Iginla (who by the way can change an entire game with one goal if he gets mad). Young kids in this country need to be exposed to NHL games here and not youtube highlights. Plus, the young goalies in this country would benefit greatly from it. Again, they won’t be seeing highlights, but actual game situations where they can see how a great goalie like Luongo or Brodeur plays in that situation. Then they can think to themselves “I’ve been in that situation and that would really help my play if I tried that.” I’m not doing this for my benefit, I want this to happen so the young hockey players in NZ can benefit.

Sky used to play hockey live three or four times a week in the glory days..
The thing is Hockey is live at middle of day, so its not competing against major sports in New Zealand, so what you get happening on sky then is scrabble champs, or skip rope….

Sure theres American Football, Basketball, and Baseball, but what sky used to do was give each game a day each and then alternate the left over ones between the four, so we could get live hockey…

Besides its mostly the playoffs we are interested in, so its only Basketball, as Football is still predraft than, baseball, is going through its preseason…

So you have two major events competeing, surely they could be staggered, and I know it costs money but sky has a lot, so they could use more than one of the four freaking sports channels they have, since most of the time sky one, is just playing whats on ESPN….

    We could get live hockey

Plus those are all on ESPN anyways. ESPN doesn’t broadcast hockey anymore so there would be no conflict would there? They have 3 sport channels and ESPN. I don’t see a problem with conflicts.

Could not have put it better Aaron. I almost had a tear in my eye. Best LIVE sporting moment in my 22 year history is the 2002 Winter Olympic hockey finals. Myself and the rest of Canada were all watching that game LIVE and the emotions with all those people backing the greatest hockey nation is one of the greatest feeling sin the world, my worst came in 1994 when I was just a wee lad at 9 years old. I tasted my first defeat as a Canucks fan (Don’t worry many more would come later on lol) The Canucks lost game 7 against the Rangers. I cried. Nothing beats live sport, NOTHING!

in reply to: Anyone want to see NHL games live in NZ? #5294

Well unlike some people, I am a die hard fan and love to watch them live and I know that there are other people as well that like watching them live. Ask the 5 guys who sat at Arana Hall last year watching Game 5 of the finals on the big screen then all jumping at once when Pisani scored in over time to win the game. That was live and there is nothing better.

I told you no…at least not right now. My brain is full of school crap and I don’t wanna learn any more.

That takes effort and that’s effort that I am not willing to use towards this embedding thing.
