the devils never looked like getting or coming close to deserving any points in quenstown. stampede played well but believe they can step it up again. if they play like they did and can, there certainly wont be any point stealing going on! its really in the hands of the players who are confident and capable!! could be an interesting end of season
quick comment on the the round or the officiating should i say. i think vpatrol is right. neither of the games were out of control or rough but the refs inability to make the right calls resulted in player frustration. cant take it out on them so we take it out not each other.
cattleprodMemberthe game was alot of fun, plenty of good play along with some ugly as well, lee, heyd and harrop line was very good with braden getting the mvp for the game and it was deserved!! the young guys went really well, o’keefe played un real and scored a nice goal!! the depth was shown in the south team with the amount of oppotunitys they created but was looked after by very good goaltending at north end. all of the young guys never looked out of place from both teams, really good to see.
north pulled it togther and just got it done, nothing to fancy and just took the chances given. huber played reall weel with a couple assist and the game winning shot out goal. ball and challis got better as the game went through, ball scored a break away on sheepo after a rink lenth pass from his young line mate.
it was great to be apart of but think that they could do a few adjustments here and there, perhaps make it allstar of the league and chuck in a skills comp. the crowd was a little smaller than what were use to in q town. should shift it down there next year. geart to be apart of and to win.
and with parsons, i was told that he first registed with dunedin i on his arrival to the country and then shifted to auckland. not sure what he played down there but that sall i know. routa might know a bit more
cattleprodMemberalot of people seem to swing towards parry, without fail he has been playing extremely well but you could say that he goes into every game with nothing to lose. almost a case of try and keep the score down which he’s done very well, exception the admirals and a big performance against the swarm
but stampede tender gobeil has so far played 4. he had a shut out against admirals. the other 3 were against the swarm only conceded 5 goalsl. he saved the stampede in there final game against the swarm. 4 wins in 4 is a huge!! victories count for alot!!
cattleprodMemberwouldn’t of thought it was that tougher fix. start the game half an hour earlier. is it because the canterbury club are being cheap and there not coughing up for enough ice time. this problem only seems to happen in chch! good to see the devils smash the swarm though, there the team to beat for sure!! and missing some key players. wont be easy to get up on that defeat. thinking the devil will win comfortably tonight.
cattleprodMemberrunning time in the 3rd!! what a F***** joke!!! it should be mandatory to play 60 full minutes!!!! bugger the public session, what if there was 1 goal in the game!! this is a problem!!!! something needs to be done!!!

Total whitewash.[/quote:11i4air3]thats what we all thought would happen in the final from last year and how we were mistaken, i know new team and new year and all that shit but the swarm are there bogey team. im swinging towards the swarm cause of this fact. devils will choke and nothling will play on his head, he’ due a big game!!

cattleprodMemberit desperation time for the swarm and to hard to call. either devils will smash them by 4 or 5 both games or the swarm will scrap through just!
it’ll take a solid defensive effort from the swarm who is lacking a little depth there, and avoiding the quick transition that i think the eaden, hyde, ruddle line must do well to produce there scoring chances. although knowing theres plenty of forward depth in the devils, slowing that line down will make a significant difference in the score line.
the swarm will go into it under dogs for sure and a little more game hardened than there opoosition. im thinking that the cockyness (not sure if thats a word) of the devils may be the blunder to help them get the win this weekend. we all know how shit hot some of those canty boys think they are!!!
i love this forum!! go stampede!!

I think that the fact that when Thunder played Stampede they were able to have a solid forcheck which made the Stampede cough the puck up quite a few times shows a little of the problems Stampede might have. Canterbury has the top forward lines in the league.[/quote:1u78riev]you think the thunder had a solid forecheck, they didn’t! it was unstructured along with alot of other play. you dont concede 60 shots against with a solid forecheck, if it was solid that would be alot lower. i dont wanna look one sided its just what i was watching. im thinking that some of the stampedes errors at the back are sometimes a little unforced but will improve on this with training. the swarm had a “solid forecheck” which the stampede had trouble with! they had 3 good, fast forward lines that were causing problems from the first game which the stampede adjusted well in the later periods.
you say canterbury have the top forward lines in the league, as it looks by the stats they have the top line so far producing alot of goals in very few games. i believe they will be a hand fill and will be tough for the southern d men. should be an interesting clash!!
im just from queenstown and supporter of stampede as you can tell.

cattleprodMemberafter watching all the stampedes home games, prior to the swarm round this weekend the stampede have not really come under offensive pressures playing against the thunder and admirals, showing this is they had 3 shutouts in those 4 games conceding 2 goals to the admirals, bonazzo making those happen. i think the team would’ve taken it hard if they had let in week goals against such sloppy offenses
the swarm who’s last round was against the stampede have had 2 weeks to prepare for these games and the stampede who came off average competition the week prior to the thunder took sometime to get into the game and pulling together a 4 all draw, the following night winning 3-1 after mounting penalties and plenty of offensive threat. showing me they have the potential to go all the way, 7 out of 8 points against the swarm is a huge boost to there season and now have 1 team standing in there way to secure a home final!!
the round this weekend will be the telling of the devils who i believe can win comfortably just because of the scoring abilities but think they may need to concentrate on there defence as its from stats there week point. the swarm will be out to stir as much shit as they can and how ever they can. not sure how the devils like it physical because the swarm hit alot, stampede aren’t a big hitting team other that argyle and looked as if they loved it!! and feed off it!!
looking forward to the results from this weekend!! gonna be a great second half to the season!
this forums great by the way, cant wait for the devils round and go the stampede
