There are also 106 photos on my facebook. Most of them are blurry as heck though, ’cause my camera sucks.

    Subtlety + interwebs = miscommunication.

Mate, you know my shooting skills are legendary. I usually go with a mean custom hybrid shot that I like to call the “Gentle Poodle”. Basically it’s like a hard slap shot, except it’s slow and slides along the ice, usually to either the far left or far right of the goal.

Catches those goalies out every time.

Actually funny thing blake i was thiniking exactly that even though our teams been beaten in all games so far its been bloody close solid good hockey! Good work on creating a fairly even leauge pete

Competition has been very good. Our (Jets) game against FYC was good fast hockey, and our game against the Bears was excellent, although it might have been more one-sided had we had our stars Christos, JVL and Pete Lamb. From what I have seen, both FYC and the Bears are very competitive teams, and I imagine the Stars will be even more so (I can see those Sykes brothers giving us hell).

So yeah, I completely agree with Rhys and Blake, looks like it will be an excellent competition. I’d also like to mention the level of organisation, which has been much better than previous DIHLs I’ve played in. Well done Pete.

The problem is Rhys that you know what Ice Hockey organisation is like down here. Unless there’s a clear process for it, I could see plenty of kids never getting a shoulder tap despite needing / deserving one.

IMHO better to have a clear process with transparent criteria, and leave as little to human fallibility as possible.

The Jets beat the Bears 4-2. The Jets were missing a few key players – Pete Lamb, James VL and Simon Christos – and so only two subs were to be had for the entire game. This made for a very tiring but satisfying run.

Netminder Toby Shuck was outstanding, really keeping the Jets competitive by fending off constant attacks by the likes of Mike Sam and Steve Jackson. Defenseman Marc Pesant spent about 95% of the game skating, only resting twice for short periods before heading back out to demolish the opposition. Can’t remember who got what, but Callan McLaughlin had a beautiful goal in (I think) the 3rd period.

    Well done the Jets <img decoding=” title=”Smiley” />

In the A grade, the Jets had a convincing 7-1 win over the Fine Young Chaps. Goals were shared around a lot, Jack Li got a nice one in from just past the blue line, top left corner. For the Jets, Toby Shuck was a godsend, and really showed his experience. Everyone played really well, even our less experienced players. Marc Pesant had a cracker of the game in the forward lineup, getting a ton of assists. James Van Leeuwen was… well, he was James – ’nuff said.

All round, a good start to the league!

Oooh, that sounds a little unbalanced. How did the game go, apart from the scorline?

Congratulations to the Red Devils! You guys were an excellent team, and played extremely well all season. A well-deserved win!

To the Stampede: Hard luck guys. You are an extremely strong team and deserved your spot in the finals. Better luck next year!
