I think it was a really good game solid on both ends. The defense was decent through the game but Heath was getting good passes behind our defense and getting some great chances on Toby. Heath=Stars offense that game. On our side we had lots of chances but couldn’t capitalize. Couple of posts were rung with Bryant completely beat and some near miss shots. I have to admit though he had amazing puck control through the game. Great deflections over the glass and glove hand snags. Didn’t know what team James VLW was playing on until about the third period. He had a great goal on Toby ” title=”Cheesy” />
Defense101MemberKyle I would appreciate it if you posted commentary for the A grade teams as well. It’s a little hurtful when you are biased and only talking about the B grade teams ” title=”Sad” /> the players in the A grade would love to hear you rant and rave about us!
Defense101Memberill be back in canada watching the flames and wings rip it up ” title=”Cheesy” />
Defense101Membernon-checking is for pussies… hence why i am playing in the dihl ” title=”Cheesy” />
Defense101MemberI think it’s a great idea and could have possibly had a mixture of the ideas of an allstar game and kiwi talent featured. If the event was thought of or promoted or whatever earlier the Skate of Origin or whatever its called could have been hosted close after the final as the trial/showcase of talent. The IB team could be picked like people mentioned and then that team could play in a exhibition game against the allstars of the international players. Like Vince mentioned the league is unique and has lots of great international talent from junior a players in canada to division 3 world players from turkey and some americans….. NZ could have their trials and talent showcase and then have a higher skilled game after with their allstar teams from all players in the league. A lot of the international players live in new zealand anyways and some i am sure would post pone a flight for a couple of weeks.
Defense101MemberYeah it was to bad because the boys were up pretty much 90% of the game and in the last 5 minutes everything just went to shit. 3 goals in the span of 2 minutes is hard to come back from but at least it looked like they had fun. Was awesome watching James VL take a it and have the other team laugh at him and then he goes and scores a goal giving their team the finger. Awesome loved watching that!
(edited out profanity)
Defense101Memberthats to bad i was hoping they would play a lot better last night. Well last game of the year today can’t hold anything back!
Defense101MemberSounds like great ideas! I think that the checking league going on now is not only great for the developing players but for developing referee’s as well to get their feet wet in contact hockey.
Defense101MemberVpatrol I thought you would know what I ment by v’s.
[size=100:1cv9cg36]V[/size:1cv9cg36]= VICTORY!
Defense101MemberI think Canterbury is going to dominate these games and win the season.
Defense101MemberDon’t think there is much left in the bank after those last couple of games for Dunedin. I will be going to watch and cheer them on. I hope they prove everyone wrong and grab a couple of V’s
Defense101MemberYeah I think it will be very different next year if the Thunder can get some imports. I tried to get some boys from the uni hockey team I was a trainer for back in Canada but I waited to late and there wasn’t interest. Maybe starting earlier next year we could get some stellar players from uni/the dub. Make it a little harder for Eaden to get that many lol. Grats to him though.
Defense101MemberThat’s really to bad. Everyone believed there was lots of promise for the team at the start of the year and in all honesty I think there was. At least could have beaten the admirals 4 games I think if the team was actually run properly and a few solid players actually stayed on the team. Damion and Dane would have been great additions for the team defensively and offensively. Good on the guys though for sticken it out all through all those games. Seriously not enjoyable getting throttled like that.
Defense101MemberI think Canterbury will take both games with ease again. Sucks to say that because there was a lot of positivness about the Thunders season this year but realistically I think it’s going to be a stomping again. Canterbury is a great team and think they are going to take everything this year. Good luck to the Thunder.
Defense101MemberPersonal experience playing against the queenstown boys I agree with all the comments. Probably far outplayed the Thunder and there is a southern rivalry there. The teams love to play one another (or at least I did). On the ice though both teams chirp back and forth to get under eachothers skin. Only difference is that is where the rivalry ends with Dunedin. They aren’t physical and don’t do the little chips and hooks like queenstown does. In one persons eyes that can be looked upon as dirty play. For two rivalry teams I think that is just common action between two rival teams. Glad to hear they had some good moments. Better then the last two games for sure. Any coaches walk of the bench this time?
