What a fantastic game to watch, nothing better than OT to get the heart racing.
So very nice worked goals for the thunder in front of the net with a couple scored by fantastic high speed deflections. Pretty sure Lenstra set a tracer from out at the blue line mid right of net, it had to happen.
the last penalty on the goalie for displacing the goal frame which he did in front of the ref, might of been called wrong in the game, the swarm were short handed instead of esterbrook facing another PS.
554b) – DISPLACING THE GOAL FRAME
b) If it happens during the last two minutes of the game, or at any time in overtime,
by a defending player or goalkeeper in his Defending Zone the Referee shall
award to the non-offending team a:
➤ Penalty Shot (PS)Expect Notling will have the pipes again this afternoon.
GasmanMemberFantastic result last night for thunder, Got to love it.
Now a spot of table watching……….The Thunder are still in controll of own destiny. by winning there remaining 5 games in reg time and gaining max points they will be in the finals. This is taking into consideration all options of other teams picking up maximum points unless playing the thunder.
Maximum points available to all teams below
BS – 33
DT – 28
WAA – 27
CRD – 25
SS – 22So devine intervention has yet a part to play in us making the Finals and winning the ( Trophy, Cup ,Title, Plate , Bowl, Certificate?)
Go thunder!!!
GasmanMemberHa ha, No i have worked out which one the goal judge is. Sorry to make you think you had a unbiased opionion from between the pipes.
Was thinking the Pipes could do with a new coat of paint, might make it easier to spot.
One photo that would of been nice to see was Heyd taking the Admirals goalie deep into his own net. I was sure there was going to be fireworks after that one.
Found it!!!

GasmanMemberThunder goals were in short supply last wkend, look at the unbiased goal judges in this shot.

Buggar you have to leaf through the slides, cant find a URL/link for the right photo. sorryGasmanMemberWith only 3 weekends left and with a touch of intervention the Thunder can still finish top of the NZIHL. All the more reason not to miss the epic battles about to unleash at the Dunedin Ice Stadium. Ooo! AHH! Thunder
GasmanMember100% lame, 100% perfect
GasmanMemberThunder to win both games this weekend.
Is Lenstra right to go or is his injury going to hold him back?GasmanMemberthe difference between the Thunder and Admirals was 33.
This is the number of one of the Finish boys on the Admirals team.
5 goals
3 unassisted
He’s a Big unit. Kind of like a Southland farm boy. Hard to bump. one particular goal he went through 3 Thunder players. there was No hole He made one!!!
He’s fast, deceptive speed. The Game was Very clean. Appeared little in the way of good solid checking.
So once he comes down with a stomach bug from eatting food delived to him last night from a South African named Sally. We should be expecting a much closer game today!!!
GasmanMembergeneral comment is about as good as i can get. Only get to see the Away team players twice in one weekend. So generally my thoughts on the devils come from there 2 games in Dunedin. Also I AM Generally Biased. Maybe the Thunder just bring the Worst out of the Away team.
Looking forward to tomorrows NZIHL games. It’s going to be a hell of a weekend.
GasmanMemberThunder will win a close one on Saturday night and wreck the Admirals Sunday.
Devils and Swarm will split. Would not be supprised if the devils implode with some of there Hot heads in game two getting them stressed and short handed.
GasmanMemberThe thunder to Win the LEAGUE! Always support the local side.
It is going to be decided on the final round robin who will make up the finals teams. I do not see any team clearing out from the pack. but i will say a split table with Swarm, Devils and Thunder top three followed by Stampede and then Admirals
The thunder are learning to play 3 periods+, while not ideal they know it is not over untill the canary chirps so will be in every game. I predict a split for the swarm and Devils when they meet in Auckland Next. The Thunder to roll the admirals in both games down south.
GasmanMemberOk you would think as the official on the ice I would have a crystal clear photographic mental image of what happened. lets say it was recorded with poor quality.
You were challenging for the puck about goal line in line with penalty spot. Physical contact nothing major for my attention to be peaked. The puck was dug out and then I heard the rantings of a mad man. To which I turned to see you not looking like you should be on skates. I thought you were going to pass OUT! I think the dislocation occoured with your fall to the ice. I think you were facing towards centre ice when you hit so Left shoulder buggered on impact?
Sorry i have tried to replay the mental footage but the recording is just getting trashed now!
GasmanMemberThat is so good. Way to GO! It will be good to have you guys back at the Ice Stadium playing in a couple of weeks to cheer you on. Well Done Thunder
GasmanMemberCheers Jamrock.
Letz go boys, lets go Thunder
GasmanMemberCheers for that.
they like to give the crowd its moneys worth
