Come on thunder!!!!
GasmanMemberShould’t the Admirals be higher on the unofficial table due to more wins than Thunder?
GasmanMemberThis weekend of games has managed to give the red-devils a jump on the pack but with sitting out this weeks games it will be very interesting to see who takes the upper hand and chases them as we head towards the halfway point of the season. The Stampede although sitting at the bottom of the table can still press for a playoff spot. Really it is wide open and it is a brave man and Kyle to make predictions on the finals make up.
So GO THUNDER GO. Lets see you exterminate the swam in there hive!!! The southern Stampede will sink the admirals ship which will right theres and Hockey will be the winner on the day.GasmanMemberThe only Bummer is having to wait untill the 24th July to watch the Thunder Again.
This is so good right now. Well done to the whole team including the off ice Crew!!!
GasmanMemberand it’s been captured for all to see.
GOOOOOOO THUNDER!!!!! Hope you can make it a Double.
GasmanMemberYeah,Thats the Stuff. Fantastic result for the thunder. These first three weeks are showing the league is much closer than yrs gone by. The boys are going to grow in confidence and better hockey will flow through from this. LEts see if they can pull off the double. Is the rink in Auck smaller than Dunedin Thunders home ice?
GasmanMembergood first period lead to the swarm there. Hope the devils can bouch back and stick to the Swarm.
Prehaps i should of read the update closer, 3-0 devils lead. I Need Glasses!!!
GasmanMemberrang up and did the ordering over the phone last week. LH blades showed up a couple of days later.
GasmanMemberFunny Moment in the game provided by the Refs.
The thunder pulled a half shift with 6 men on the Ice. The Devils started shouting 6 men there supporters were shouting six men. the thunder bench was yelling to pull one of there boys from the ice before getting a penalty. the noise was crazy! The thunder at that point were well and truly camped in the devils zone.Extra man advantage. Once the thunder had removed there extra man from the ice. Hell if they could of reached out and yanked him back they would of. The ref next time play stoped reminded teams of the 5 man rule that we should be playing by. everyone nodded on the thunder bench. they Dodged that one!!!
Thanks Ref’s for being blind for 30 seconds and shutting out the screams of the players and supporters.
GasmanMemberFrom my unbiased position in the stands….
The thunder came out physical and this put the devils on the back foot. they were woried on the boads about getting hit in a solid check, they the Devils did not have time on the puck and control of it through the neutal zone into attack. it showed in there play and lack of penetration to the Thunders goal
The thunder however had all the time in the world. the game looked as if it was played one step or even two slower than the Stampede games last wkend. They had time to orgnise there offence and transistion through the neutral zone and into attack. they set up camp a number of times on the Devils goal and while not always paying off with a goal from the stands it was pleasing to see the game being played at the right end of the rink.
Some slick move from P Heyd proved the difference in the game but he had support only 3 sticks on his out side to help keep the Devils gessing
The third period came unstuck for 1:12 with 2 very quick goals nicly worked with a hit that the devils might just click. A timeout to settle the Thunder boys was called. proving decisive. the devils came back latter for another goal to tie the game up and really put some acid on the home team. A waved off goal on near full time which was really a 50/50 call from my unbiased set in the house could of been the game winner.
Lets go to OT!!! a good part of the cowd got up and started to leave not awear of the change of rules. One good shift by the devils almost stole the victory for them but the local crowd started to lift and cheer and holler the boys on. they settled and attacked the devils again and again. a top right slot in the net shortly after and the Victory was THUNDERS. the bench cleared the sticks gloves and helmets littered the rink and a rather large man Monment occoured in front of the Devils goal. But with so much pressure on them for a expectant win the Monkey has been booted to touch and they were stating celebrations early.
Thanks to the team for saluting the crowd we got as much from the game as you. Please don’t celebrate too hard we are all back for round two tonight.
GasmanMemberThat was Fantastic. OT just to make it interesting
GasmanMemberFrom my position behind the net both games I would say i think the Stampede had more time on the puck through the netural zone in setting up for a shot. The thunder appeared to have a rush attack system. A couple of times the puck left the thunders attack zone to easily with a missed puck handel at the blue line. This may of been big game nerves for some of the thunder members. However I think the thunder never scored when attacking the warmroom end. ie a quiet 2nd period both games. They were in it both games at the end of the first period.
There was alot of niggle which I guess comes with hockey, but as long as there can be niggle and it does not effect ones head and decision making thats fine. but when it boils over into outbursts and ice grudges then the core reason for playing may come in second untill that niggle debt is paid in the heads of players.I will be there come this weekend to support the boys again. Go Thunder!!!!
GasmanMemberTussle? is that one step down from fighting. You really did have your hands full out there last night. Hope the boys play the puck a bit more rather than throwing haymakers around tonight. this isn’t Rural you know!
GasmanMemberhell not only did the teams take a dislike to each other and niggle all game long the Officals also took a pasting through the game. I saw the Ref get choped down with his skates taken out from under him, kyle ended up hitting rough ice going backwards and ended up against the boards. To top it off i think they all got rolled at various times along the boards.
hard passes all night kept peppering the Officals in the legs,Skates and body.I am sure they are going to be feeling a bit sore, today.
It was pleassing to see some steel and grit from the thunder tonight.
Bring on game 2,Admirals Eh. only one person picked it!!!
GasmanMemberWell here is hoping the third team on the ice has a fantastic game as well.
