Thunder to win 3-2. this will be the score after two periods and the third and final period will be a nailbiter, as our goal is peppered from shots out wide as the defense muscles up holds strong and get physical in and around the net keeping the Stampede Boys optionless in front of goal. Dissapointing was the Thunder attack just not finding there way in the third and the credit for the win is going to come down to the Blue line boys for hanging tough. There was a heart stopping moment for the Thunder as a penalty shot was awarded with 93 seconds remaining on the clock due to a suspect tripping call, but the Stampede foward muffed his shot going to high and wide. The crowd stood as one, hooted and hollered till the countdown for the final whisle. They knew there boys just might have the Steel and skills to this year make more than a few ripples in the NZIHL. GasmanMemberI guess I am one sided and would love to see some of own domestic Ice Hockey on small screen. I hope they find someone with deep enough pockets to back this format.
Would love to think by lifting the profile of the sport it might translate into a direct increase in club numbers. I guess it’s the kind of thing that might take time to develop.
Side note any idea on average attendence at NZIHL games last season. 100ish. hoping TV coverage might improve this. Commentators for our national rugby code lament empty stands on tv. It’s not a good look.
I remember as a Kid Otago Nuggets games in the now ice stadium being packed out each and every week. fantastic to get that again. Really we want the IB vs. OZ croud for every game
GasmanMemberYes Aus vs Bel tomorrow will be great in that alot will be riding on it.
I would like to think the powers that be might be able to find a window and come up with a plan to try and make an NZL vs AUS game or series possable. I guess it will always be diffficult in that we would be asking Amuteurs to give up more of there precious time ontop of existing World Camps. towards there sport.
How about a series a week or two before world champs kick off to get boys battle hardened?
GasmanMemberWell done guys. Well earned one goal games hard to watch but a win is a win.
So for our Ice Blacks to improve in DivII do they need more international games besides the Champs each yr, or could they play the Some of the OZ regional teams. Asian teams or even the OZ National team each yr?
GasmanMember1-up on China. May the goals flow for us.
GasmanMemberis there going to be a round of playoffs? if so NZ really, really needs to win one more to try and avoid a one off game to decide who drops a division.
GasmanMemberNZ U18 take out the win and with it gold. way to go guys, to the team both on and off the ice. roll on div.II
GasmanMemberis there a playoff round or is it just win-loss record that leads to promotion?
GasmanMemberit looks like they have the harder teams towards the end of the tourny round robin. good to get game time together first before hitting tougher competition.
As it stands now they are doing very well. 5-2 in third period.
GasmanMemberThis looks like it is going to be a real test on the boys these next two games, i thik the draw has really worked in their favour. Go hard guys.
GasmanMemberthat game would of been a tough watch come the third period. Lets hope they can take down the pasty irish northerners today with a couple of goals cushion at the end. 1 goal games are excitment plus. well done guys
GasmanMembernice work ryan. we have the beat up, now hope my game can match the talk. I would hate to think what might get written if I under perform though.
GasmanMemberJust looked up the Prime on Freeview.
