I think you have the score wrong on the main page Ryan. I thought it was 6-6 at the end of ordinary time, with 7-6 after sudden death.[/quote:29wgtfl3]

Fixed.

I love moros! The chocolate bar, not the team though! So feel free to send them my direction

This is what you listed in our forum Ryan

In that case definitely change July to August above then.

Actually, I’m sure that’s a typo I’ve made there. Aardwolfs trip is August I think, not July!?

I’ll have to go check, but I can’t till tonight.

That will be right at the start of power skating unless the games are played after 10pm on Monday.

Power skating wasn’t booked in when the Aardwolfs informed the DIHA when they’d be coming, so I’m assuming that ice time will be kept free.

I normally just bitch about how events are organised …

But the event tonight was DAMN GOOD! Thumbs up to the Cadbury Cup organisers

Slick … lots of spectators … good game … even game … nothing too dirty to bring the sport into disrepute, but enough big hits and rough and tumble to keep the crowd happy.

Good shit! Keep it up

Damn good game tonight! Canterbury only beat Dunedin by a smidgen. There was excitement all game long Lots of big hits, controversy and an extremely close score.

Big kudos to the organisers who really stepped things up this year. Previous Cadbury Cups were always a little naff, but this time things were slick and well run. Most importantly, the quality of the game/players was a massive improvement. IMO this was a much better event for the spectators than the recent NZIHL games held here.

Here’s the full list of players – apologies for any typos on the names (not my fault, most have been corrected):

This morning, Beasts and Ducks compressed their two games into a full stop time game, and then reset the scoreboard at the end of the second period. Ducks were without a goalie, so played a third defence back. I forget the scores, but it was 14-3 or something in two periods, and then 13-2 in the third period to the Ducks? Good fun, but perhaps not so much if you were on the other side of the scoreboard.[/quote:2fdfqwwx]

Great game Brings back memories of the scores for the mighty Dunedin Aces.

We had lots of fun, the score was always going to be irrelevant, just looking at the rosters is a telling sign … even the worst players on the Ducks would be about even keel with the top players in the Beasts. Throw in a former Ice Black, a former National Womens Hockey League player and some stupidly tall guy who elbows you in the head even though he’s standing upright and the outcome was inevitable. That doesn’t matter though, particularly for us defense who were kept busy all game long

Harrison is bringing his video camera along for me so you’ll be getting video footage instead – I’m doing the camera work while Harrison is controlling the music.

At the very least, some argy bargy in the game will keep the spectators happy
Ryan Wick vs Christchurch thugs part 2?
This time I’ll try to make sure I get footage of it

He hit a ref? First I’ve heard about that, or did I get confused about it and say that a while ago – that’s possible as I got confused about what actually happened.

The story I’ve heard (from multiple sources including one of the linesman on the ice at the time) was that he got multiple suspensions repeatedly, then got a match/game penalty/misconduct (not sure which). But then went and got changed, put on his work uniform (he’s one of the managers of the Alpine Ice Arena) and then promptly booted Jerome (referee at the time) out of the arena. I think he was going to get banned for repeated suspensions anyway, but got a double whammy for bringing the game into disrepute/disrupting the entire evenings games.

My sources in ChCh have come up dry, no one has heard about this.

Although I don’t know anyone currently on the CIHA committee so if it was in the past day or two it may not have filtered down through the grapevine yet.

Sheesh, sounds serious. I’ll see what gossip I can dredge up on it.

I don’t understand what legal action he could be threatening them with though. I’ve heard from multiple sources exactly the same story about what happened to cause him to be banned and it was all quite reasonable IMO.

Oh heck, we have a tie

The official rules of “Mangle Bode” now mean that we have to perform a “Mangle Off”! The two competitors who drew are required to mangle a certain picture and the best mangle job will be decided by Bode. The photo for the “Mangle Off” will be provided tomorrow evening by moi.
