I’ve told two people by email recently that the Saturday night session is definitely on! Hopefully not too many people have been turning up to an empty rink.

I didn’t make it to the meetings before the one on Monday so I’m just going by what I was told. The intention of the sub-committee was to have something ready for the end of June as that’s when our designer asked for it by.

I left this stuff to Steve Jackson to deal with so I’m not the best person to ask the details of. I assumed Phil Pielak-Jones was in the loop with everything and he requested a special meeting in a week or so to make a decision on it.

Meeting is definitely intended by both Steve and Beth, plus a bunch of other stuff including meeting with the rink probably and touring the ice rink, photography session (of the rink etc).

[b:1e38a9r9]Start date: [/b:1e38a9r9]approximately two weeks from now.

    Ryan,

Look, sorry, but seriously, I’m way to busy …

Can someone PLEASE rewrite this thing, I shouldn’t have volunteered, but it would be really great if you guys could help out.

    Ryan,

If the email looks reasonable and no one objects, Kyle could you mail bomb that to the DIHL list?

Mark Hareb still hasn’t been sent any contact lists apart from the Juniors so can’t do the emailing for us yet.

What’s all this about restarting? It’s never stopped AFAIK.

(Jacqui?) and she was mentioning something about a saturday or Sunday night game that happens. Any info on that?[/quote:7tosgqjy]

Yep, there’s a session on Saturdays at 7:30pm, although it wasn’t on last Saturday as the Beasts vs Juniors game was scheduled in then, plus the rink wasn’t open!? Unfortunately I wasn’t told about this so no notice was posted. But presumably it is on again this Saturday.

The Beasts are usually looking for teams to play. Just form a team and contact Mark Hareb, I’m sure he’ll be happy to play another random team.

    Ryan,

I hate the idea of using another teams colours. Seems silly as it’s just confusing the whole branding issue.

I wasn’t at the meeting, but I would have thought that the time has passed for suggesting new names.

The list of colour schemes must be shorter than all those question marks. We’re only choosing between three or four right? We can cross all the NZIHL and SIHL colour schemes off the list to start with.[/quote:1gbgc5bx]

Yeah, I’m not planning to give almost any time to people to get back to us anyway. Just a few days. I was just happy that some progress was being made and there was an ETA on this, I was expecting to have to argue that we make a decision within the next month. It would obviously help a billion times over if committee members would just read the forum but I suspect that’ll never happen for some of them. Phil seemed set on emailing the club so that’s what’s happening. I wasn’t about to open another can of worms by suggesting that we’d already covered everything.

Do we have a date for the special meeting? I’ve lost my scrap of paper which had important stuff written on it, possibly including that.

I’m guessing this is something else Keith has competed in recently as well.

Too busy, running out time, if anyone feels like finishing this off I’d be very appreciative <img decoding=” title=”Smiley” />

    Choose name.
General consensus is that we need a name so sort of half canned the no name idea.

Choose colour scheme to match team name – this is what I suggested to Steve Jackson but he didn’t like that idea – actually Phil Pielak-Jones that suggested it this time though. But Steve wasn’t there so the idea flew.

Get all the data in and collate.

Then have a special meeting to make a decision, probably within the next two weeks or so.

I have the job of preparing an email/notice for everyone.

Hows about they just put that sythetic ice stuff in a sqaure around the goal that way it wont cost anywhere near as much…? and the goalies wont get stuffed gear[/quote:3sa0purd]

That’s not really doable as any ground grubbers would clip the edge of the synthetic ice and ping up and smack the goalie in the face! So you’d need to cover the whole surface which isn’t really an option. Or indent the surface into the concrete which is also not viable. It would be really annoying not being able to practice deking the goalie on inline skates too as the synthetic ice would get in the way.

The consensus (at least among the small group of experts I’ve asked so far) is to use a plastic roller rink surface which would also not damage the goalie gear. Cost would be somewhere around $2000.
