Go figure, Dunedin decides to pull finger (this season) and actually have a serious crack at beating Queenstown for the first time in quite some while, then Queenstown fails to field a decent team the whole season long – well so far at least. Rather weird, but I’m sure they have their reasons. Would be nice if one of them could drop in and give us the low down direct from the horses mouth though.

[b:1ncyf5tm]Update:[/b:1ncyf5tm] After speaking to Phil Pielak-Jones it seems that there’s not likely to be any problem with them coming here. Jackie Christos seemed to know a little about the background behind it all and could see no problem in them playing our team. Phil is now going to contact Graeme Sykes who had some involvement with them last year.
I’ll be going back to my original source now to see if they mind me blabbing who they are and get them to pass on a message to the NY Pirates asking them to contact our secretary Joyce Miller about the issue.

I discovered to my detriment that backyards are infinitely more suitable for hockey rinks than front yards! Parked cars and pucks are a bad combination.

Apparently ‘G Hay’ of the NZIHF was worried about door takings. Something about previous issues with the Moose. But from what I’ve heard the Pirates aren’t too concerned about that stuff, they’re loaded anyway, mainly rich New Yorkers with money to burn. Or at least that’s what the grapevine has told me – grape vine is occasionally wrong – it’s a bit like the trash heap.Ryan,
