Welcome to the forum and thanks for the info.

I doubt they’d run a new trial just because they goofed up their RSS feed.

And since it was advertised quite widely I can’t see any other problems.

Oh, lol. I thought you wrote “Stampede”.

Congrats to Stephanie Patchett for coming second in the list of assists in her first ever world champs.

It was a bit of a toss up between Stampede and Thunder. Stampede have such a strong history that I can’t imagine them not jumping back after a weak year though and I haven’t heard any news from the Thunder camp that made me think they would improve enough to leap frog the Red Devils.

Pretty ballsy considering that last season they came in last and second last places.

Thunder are and up and coming team though, and the Stampede were the top dogs until not long ago, so perhaps it’s doable.

It would certainly be amusing if they did agree to play one of the NZIHL teams, then proceeded to have their arse handed to them on a plate.

Holy cripes. It wasn’t that long ago we were in division IV and here we are kicking ass in the second division. Goes to show how much the level of NZ hockey has skyrocketed in the past few years.

Sheree was playing. She scored some goals too apparently.

you will notice in a 3 man system that the ref will raise his hand during a stoppage of play, this is to signal to the away team that they may not make anymore changes to that they have already made (read no new players may come on the ice once the hand goes up), the home team then has roughly 5 seconds to match their lines accordingly. When the ref drops his hand, the home team may make no more changes and the linesman will (should) blow the whistle.[/quote:i5zvn6jr]

I didn’t understand or care about this when you posted it. But I was lining with Mike Mitchell this evening and he showed me what to do. I was slightly confused as to what he was doing at the time, but I got the gist that I needed to blow the whistle once he dropped his arm. It all makes a lot more sense now that I’ve read back over what you said.

I no idea local referees bothered with any of these home/away team shenanigans. I’m envisaging me getting my home and away benches completely around the wrong way and screwing it up.

I referee’d an earlier game with two linesman helping me, but they knew even less about what to do than I did, so it all worked out fine

Do you have a link to it? I can’t find it anywhere.

All you need to do is to create a feed at http://dunedinthunder.co.nz/feed/. The Feedburner one which everyone is subscribed to (76 people currently) grabs it’s data from there.

It’s currently routed through my Feedburner account as Al and Karen didn’t want to register an official Thunder account. There will be a way to give you guys access to it if you require it.

I’m kinda stunned you guys are trying to justify their actions. These are twisted little con-men looking to scam an unsuspecting public. I don’t care if it’s even a hockey game. No one should be attempting to con people like that and expect to be treated nicely for it. It’s twisted and dishonest. The fact that it’s a hockey game just peaked our interest. I’d have been pissed at them regardless of the sport.

And it’s definitely fraud. They’ve been outright lying for a while now. When they get caught out with something, they change their tune and adjust. Things have been achieved through this topic too; I’m pretty sure Chris’s initial report to the commerce commission is what made them stop using the names “Team Canada” and “Team USA” in their advertising.

Actually I do see a very distinct problem here. The Dunedin Thunder have killed their RSS feed for some reason … http://feeds.feedburner.com/dunedinthunder or http://dunedinthunder.co.nz/feed/

Presumably anyone wanting to get the most up to date information about the team would have been subscribed to it. But since it is now dead, they would have missed all the news. There wasn’t even a message saying that the feed would be killed off, so many people (including myself) would have simply assumed that the team weren’t posting any news.
