All the 15 and up’s from the Spring DIHL, plus everyone who was in the excel spreadsheet you sent me a while back listed under – not playing in the Spring DIHL.

Plus a few others who weren’t on any lists. Phil, Deanna and a few others I can’t remember.

So basically everyone, I think it went to about 15 or so.

We now have a new photo gallery. It doesn’t actually contain any new photos though, infact it has less! More pics will be coming soon. Let me know if you find any bugs in the gallery.

Reason for new design:
faster to update
doesn’t require any web design knowledge to update
others can update it if I’m away

Phil wants the registration form on the first night you arrive. The pre-registration just requires an email.

In retrospect there wasn’t much point in me putting some of things on the registration form like ability, position etc. as he’ll be needing those beforehand anyway.

An online registration form would have been suitable, but I wasn’t that organised/skillful!

Marc Dudley has the footage from the big fancy camera I was using at the finals.

Once I’ve got hold of that I can do something. Although you are definitely more than welcome to do it yourself! I have little to no experience with video editing so feel free to do it yourself.

I have a bunch of clips from earlier games to add to Marc’s footage. Mark Hareb gave me a DVD of the finals of the B-grade, but it wasn’t encoded correctly and doesn’t work properly.

Yeah, I would’ve done it that way too. Incentives are always a good idea IMO.

Yeah, I put a comment somewhere in the rego form (I think) saying that players could apply for dispensation to play even if they’re under 16. I’m sure Phil will be fairly flexible on that, particularly since a lot of them are quite good and bigger than some of the adults.

Pain in the butt though, the changeover took quite a lot of work

Yep, anyone 16 years or older can play. The more the merrier

This will be a good chance for you to play at a higher level. Playing against better players is a great way to improve your own game. The level will be quite a lot lower than the recent DIHL A-grade but probably a lot higher than that of the B-grade. This will likely be very much a social event, so no one will mind if some players are at a lot lower level than themselves.

Hopefully plenty of people sign up. They’ve left this quite late to organise and I think that will affect the number of people signing up. It’s nice to see it happening though. It’s a good demonstration of the health of the sport if the league can operate all year round.

Hi,
Registration form for the Dunedin Ice Hockey League Summer 2006/2007 is now available for download:

Remember to pre-register with Phil before Sunday or you’ll miss out – probably.

I decided I hated the new menu so have ditched and put the old one back in again.

I got an email from him before and will be sending an email out to all the players about it shortly. Looks like 3 on 3 is the way it’s going. 4 on 4 I actually find easier than 5 on 5, particularly as he’s not bothering with icing either so you can get away with cherry picking more, so less skating to do. 3 on 3 could be quite hard though.

I’ll phone him shortly about it, in particular I’d like to suggest naming it the DIHL Summer league, to tie the title in more to the current DIHL format. I’ll also be preparing an Event Notice as required under the new DIHA rules

Ryan,

PS: I’m not sure if there’s age limit or not. I’m assuming 4 year olds can’t play but he hasn’t said otherwise, also don’t know if slapshots etc. are allowed or not.

Short notice! Good new though. Are you helping with this at all Kyle?

Phil Pielak-Jones phoned me the other day about it but I didn’t realise he was planning on it coming together so quickly. Sounds good though, hopefully they’ll get plenty of players. Bummer I can’t play

Thanks for the tips. I’ve chosen the third one.

I’ve updated the home page, and the rest of the pages in the main part of the site are updated except for the active page buttons which I need to go through and change for each page. I’ll get onto that tomorrow hopefully. The forum will need to updated manually as well.

Not sure I like the new style though, doesn’t gel well with the rest of the site, but oh well. I might change it again at a later date, but we’re stuck with it for the mean time.

The main menu buttons for the website haven’t prove to be very popular. The problems are apparently to do with the font not being very readable and the black on red causing problems for some people (slight colour blindess issues).

Here’s some examples of potential new menu buttons. Let me know what you think. The Ones I prefer the most are the second and third ones from the top (the top one is the current design).

The outer glow would be present for ALL of the buttons and I’d either add an even brighter glow for the active one or highlight the entire button. The mouseovers will possibly have the same look as the active button – this isn’t decided yet and if you have an opinion on the issue then let me know. There’s a billion different fonts out there so feel free to suggest another one. The fonts below can also be stretched, made bold, italicised, pretty much anything you can think of so feel free to suggest modifications to the existing ones too.

[img:2nq739cu]http://www.dunedinicehockey.co.nz/development/newpotentialmenudesigns1.png[/img:2nq739cu]

Random info: the third one is based on the font from the Swatch watch company, the fourth one is based on the font of Gilligans island and the last one is the font from Evanescence.

cheers,
Ryan
