Sounds like you’re all taking this too seriously.
How ’bout we end this.Ryan,
PS: welcome to the forum Hanffy
imported_RyanMemberWe were short on players for the A-grade, and Jack was at the top of the B-grade group so got to play both grades.
Plus he’s a team manager so he get’s special treatment ” title=”Smiley” />
So far, myself, Jack, Jason Sedgwick, Nick Reymond and Mark Dudley (goalie) have played in both grades. Antony Blackett played in goal in A-grade and out in B-grade.
Ryan,
imported_RyanMemberWow, the forum really seems to be taking off now that the season is over! Four people online right now and lots of heated debate going on. We should make sure we don’t go offending anyone though, anyone can read this after all.
Ryan,
imported_RyanMemberI’m actually worried some people may get offended by stuff in there. Particularly the refs who I’ve been trying hard not to slag off (failing on occasion). Phil seemed a little heated before.
Ryan,
imported_RyanMemberVery true!
I spoke to his mum last night and she apparently had nothing whatsoever to do with helping him organise the team. He did all off his own back and has no record of ever doing anything like this before. She said she thought it was pie in the sky idea at first but when he started collecting in hundreds of dollars she realised he might actually pull it off, which he did.
He’s apparently looking for a job at the moment, so if anyone knows of anything suitable for a 14 year old then let him know. I also told his mum that if ever needed a job reference to come see us as we/I would happily write him a glowing one.
imported_RyanMemberMore penalties I say!
I thought the refereeing standard was quite good last night though, much improved on previous games this season. But, unfortunately apparently neither Shaun or Phil heard the racial slurs.
I hope if the referees ever do hear something like that, that they come down on the players pretty hard. I’m not sure of the exact penalties for such things but I would guess it’s something like a game misconduct, I could be wrong though and can’t be assed looking it up right now.
imported_RyanMemberJake Woodhouse for manager of the year then, I guess I didn’t think much about him during the season as his team just turned up and I never actually had to deal with him.
Ryan,
imported_RyanMemberNo prize giving, but perhaps we should award some anyway, even it is only by email.
My picks:
We’ve had some really good team managers this season so I think some awards to them are in order.
Manager of the season: Mark Hareb
some sort of award for Claire for having such a well organised team would be good and something for Jake Woodhouse for out of the blue pulling together a team and turning up with $770! He’s only 14 years old so getting a team organised all is quite impressive. I’m not sure what to call those awards though.
Highest number of goals of the season: no idea, need the rest of the stats first. Although it’s possibly Justin Bigg for the B-grade.
Most improved player. Jason Sedgwick has improved a lot, although there’s possibly some more suitable awardees.
Anyone else have any more ideas?
Ryan,
imported_RyanMemberOkay, the mobile site has now changed to http://www.dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/mobile
Apparently the word handheld implied something dodgy!? I guess I’m too innocent to pick up on such things. I’ve also added a bunch of extra stuff and it’s not a test version anymore, it’s the real mcoy!
I’m guessing this is the first New Zealand ice hockey mobile website! So congratulations to me ” title=”Smiley” />
And congratulations to Jane, Stefan, Brent and some random guy from the Stampede who are now the first people to have their photos shown on a New Zealand ice hockey mobile website.Ryan,
imported_RyanMemberThe Bullfrogs are actually looking fairly strong. Hopefully Becky Brassett will be back in net (she was back last week too) and Rob Wadell has replaced me on the defensive line.
Ryan,
imported_RyanMemberI think that secret was revealed a long time ago!

imported_RyanMemberPossibly forgotten about! Joyce sends me the stats each week, but after week 5 I sent Joyce an email asking if she could send the results of the games to me pronto so I could work out the semi-finals schedule but that I didn’t need the stats immediately. So I guess she’s sent the results and forgotten about sending the stats. I’ll send her another email to remind her.

Do you want more info. than was in the email sent out the other day? Basically you need to follow all the IIHF equipment regulations[/url:29gbluip] plus you need a mouthguard as per NZIHF rules and shin guards, elbow pads and gloves are part of the DIHL rules. The shin guards, elbow pads and gloves do not need to be designed for hockey but I’d recommend hockey specific gear anyway. The email sent out the other day is below.
Ryan,
Hi everyone,Just a quick note about the DIHL. The referees have been very lenient about enforcing equipment rules so far. But as of today they’re intending to insist that all players follow the rules. So …
In particular: The DIHL is being played under the IIHF jurisdiction and therefore all under 18 year olds must wear a full face shield and all players born after Dec 31, 1974 must at least wear a visor that meets approved international standards i.e. cover the eyes and the lower edge of the nose. NZIHF requirements also mandate that mouth guards are compulsory.
All players MUST wear:
helmet
half/full face visor/cage
mouth guard
elbow pads
shin guardsAll under 18 year olds must also wear:
throat protector
full face visor/cageAlso, the referees have requested that the following points be made to all players as there have been a few issues lately with on-ice antics.
a. This is SOCIAL hockey – not game 7 of the Stanley Cup.
b. Any verbal abuse or complaining to the refs will not be tolerated. We’re running short on referees at the moment and we don’t need to lose some due to players yelling at them during the game, they’re doing their best – yelling at them won’t help. If you have any issue with the refereeing standard, please contact either the DIHL or DIHA commitees after your game and we’ll deal with the issue as best we can. If you’re interested in becoming a referee yourself, then please contact us and we’ll let you know what you need to do to become involved.
cheers,
Ryan Hellyerimported_RyanMemberI’ve re-uploaded the stats. I seem to be having some caching issues with my ISP though so I can’t check that it’s uploaded properly so someone please let me know if you can’t see it.
