I was using the NZIHF site as an example of content being more important the details. Good content -> good site; doesn’t matter if it’s ugly or not. I haven’t taken much notice of the NZIHF site for a while now so if you guys say it’s being updated well now then I’ll believe you … off to check it out again. EDIT: yeah, looks it’s updated more often now.

RSS feeds on all of these sites would be darned handy. It’s a pain in the neck not having any way to get updates.

I’m just happy that sites are being updated at all. Most websites are made, then never get updated and become a useless ghost town. I’d rather have someone doing a half-assed job of updating the sites occasionally, than someone doing an awesome job for a short period of time, then never updating it again. The DIHA site was in risk of never being updated again because I got tired of it, but thankfully Kyle is stepped to update the site regularly.

I don’t think there’s much that can be done about skewed reports. That’s just the nature of receiving reports from the teams themselves.

I suspect the underlying software is what is causing most of the other problems you are seeing. I assume that at the moment someone is manually generating static files and uploading them to the server on each update. It would make a lot more sense to use some sort of idiot-proof database managed system which can allow multiple access to the site. That would allow for much faster updates and for a lot more people to be doing those updates, plus would would reduce the chances of errors with links etc.

Personally I couldn’t care less what it looks like so long as the information is there and is easily accessible. The NZIHF site used to be the best run hockey site in the country, then it was made more beautiful, but it’s never been as useful as it was before as the site is rarely updated anymore

Permanently unusable or temporarily? Or unknown perhaps?

I’m guessing that’s because they’re too big. Perhaps shrink them in size via a photo editor and try again.

U16 NZ squad has been announced too … http://nzihl.com/media/24963/nzu16%2020 … cement.pdf

Unfortunately the NZIHF decided that female players are not allowed to be on the NZ team despite being eligible to compete. So the team has been crippled by not being allowed to take the best goal tenders.

Good way for Southern to finish the season.

Does this put the standings as:
(1) Canterbury
(2) Southern
(3) Auckland

??

Final score 8 – 5 to Southern

2nd period: 4 – 4

I’ll update this once the final score comes in. (updated)

Awesome. You should suggest they get in touch with the DIHA too. It would be nice to invite them down to play here too.

Perhaps Roxburgh and Timaru could come at the same time if their schedules and skill levels suited.

I have a bunch of hockey sticks to donate to them.

If anyone has other equipment, sticks, pucks, protective gear or anything else they’d like to donate, please get in touch with them – or drop them off to me and I’ll pass them on when I get around to getting them the hockey sticks.

Congratulations to Canterbury!

And yep, I agree, the few NZJEL games I’ve seen were better to watch than their NZIHL equivalents. Less arrogant dumb asses trying to prove their manhood and more playing hockey.

Hopefully Logan is okay. Dehydration/exhaustion is not something I’d expect someone to be stretchered off for.
