I’m wondering if I should be using the heel of the blade more when I puck handle?

I always assumed I used the heel more than the toe, but on watching that video it looks like I use the toe end a whole lot more than I thought.

    Awesome

Pity we’re not allowed to do ritual burnings anymore though

I have another 20 mins or so of literally nothing but Aston’s ass just standing there if that’s of any use.

We’re intending to do a test run on Rick Parry’s head at the Thunder practice this evening. To anyone attending the practice, feel free NOT to fire pucks at Rick’s head

I have footage of the whole first period and the fist part of the second before it got knocked off it’s perch. The batteries ran out before the third period.

I’m not sure when the rumble was, but if it was in that time-frame then yep, I’ll have footage of it. If you can give me the approx. time during the period I can go looking for it and upload it to YouTube for you if you like.

The NHL are awesome when it comes to stuff like this. They’re one of the rare sports which actively promotes the publication of their content online, unlike more asinine sports like Formula 1 which have the exact opposite approach.

Well hopefully they won’t care. Blocking people from trying to promote their sport seems kinda dumb.

I’ve been recording the Stampede games for years and they’ve never mentioned any concerns about it. The Thunder asked me not to record their pre-season and first games of the season but were okay with me recording their in-season games last I heard.

The unedited video had quite a few long periods of Aston just standing there chilling out. Out of a 30 something minute clip I got 13.5 mins of Aston actually doing stuff. I had to chomp that down to 10 mins to get it onto YouTube.

Did you check with Aston if he wanted his strengths and weaknesses broadcast for all the other teams to see?

Lol, no. But playing a hockey game with open entry and multiple cameras pointing at him was probably a good hint that his game may be broadcast

This one didn’t come out so well because of the angle. It’s quite short too as I had it attached to the netting, but when the puck hit the netting it knocked the camera off and so we got 15 mins of video ALONG the glass rather than through it. It then ran out of batteries as I hadn’t fully charged them before the game.

Where do you guys reckon I should position it? It can go inside the goal too as it’s quite a hardy little camera.

I was thinking perhaps if I attached it to the glass just above the boards, but off the side a little so that it isn’t directly behind the goalie but gives a view across the ice.

Stampede and Red Devils for me.

Thankfully some smarty pants stuck a video camera on him to catch all of those statistics defying saves – apart from the one at 8:45

    Another good game to watch.

I kept hearing that the Stampede were a weaker team this year, but it didn’t look like that to me. It just appeared that the Thunder had upped their game considerably from last season.

James van Leeuwen is far less amusing to watch coaching though. No screaming hissy fits, no fencing removal, nothing. BORING!

7 – 4 to Stampede. Pretty awesome to see the Thunder do so well Hopefully they do just as well tomorrow!

The place to be in Dunedin this Saturday is Cableways, situated at the Northern end of Kaikorai Valley below KFC.
