Isn’t like $100 for the mouthguard, but only $5 for each extra ones since they already have the mold to make it from?

Why do those with properly fitted mouthguards still sound like they’ve had a lobotomy?

I highly doubt that.

Having said that, I have absolutely no intention of wearing a mouthguard, they’re horrible.

Who intriduce the mouthguard rule in the 1st place? I assume it was at IIHF level …[/quote:2h3o9o09]

Nope. The NZIHF implemented that rule.

AFAIK NZ was unique in enforcing mouth guards across the board.

Good rule change. It was never followed by players anyway.

I remember an SIHL game where half our bench were chewing gum and sticking it on our teeth in case the ref came to check if we had a mouth guard on. Far more likely to choke on chuddy than get knocked out :p

There’s an out-of-date statement.

Mouthguards now recommended as long as you’re wearing a face cage. Compulsory if you don’t have a full cage on.
[/quote:wivbqqml]

When did that happen?

in reply to: NZIHL 2010 season #15181

The NZIHF wouldn’t even waiver on allowing women to compete in contact hockey, so I can’t imagine them allowing players to fight with effectively no punishment for it.

If anything they seem more intent on enforcing more rules, not less rules, ie: compulsory mouth guards and visors.

Is Lyndal Heineman the first female player ever to be named on an NZIHL roster?

If you hadn’t fielded a team like that you would have lost. You only won by a single point over the Penguins after all. Personally I’m not a big fan of “dumbing down” open competitions in that way. If you can field a strong team, you should IMO. It’s up to everyone else to catch up. The idea is to win after all

A and B-grades would have made sense, but I suspect they decided they’d do that with eight teams, not six. For the future, it may be better to split it at six if it’s looking like there is a big differential like that. It would have been fairly obvious from the rosters/talking to the teams what level they were at.

Lol, well I do consider Keith a friend already. He just seems to be talking in riddles at the moment that’s all

I’m all for new ideas on how to improve things, I’m never shy in telling people when they’ve screwed up, I just don’t see any problems this time around.

The only major change I see this year is that no one stepped forward to form an individuals team, but I don’t see how that’s the organisers fault. That’s more of a criticism of the hockey community as a whole, which includes those doing the criticising.

You replied to a post I wrote which was about the Easton Cup entry form.

And how to enter.

"keith":6pafeaf6 wrote:
Fact it was way better in the last years, why change the format ,[/quote:6pafeaf6]

Other than the lack of posters what specifically has changed? I don’t see any difference from other years except that it was little more obvious how to go about entering and I think we were given a more notice than in previous years.

also it show by the lack of outside Dunedin teams this year[/quote:6pafeaf6]

There were more outside teams this year than any other year apart from the first.

But what has been said that would help? What specifically should be changed?

Putting up a notice asking for players is totally pointless if you already have enough.

Some of you wanted posters put up advertising it, but who would have entered a team that wasn’t already aware of it? You can put as many posters up as you want, but I’d have thought all the people who are organised enough to enter a team would be likely to have seen the existing advertising anyway (I could be wrong though).

What specifically didn’t you know about? It was all posted on the website. I posted the link to the information back when you asked.

Exactly. Hence the event organisers are presumably quite thankful that so many people stepped forward and took over that job for them this year.

Maybe next time PUT a notice on the notice board and fill your name out under the team you think wants you. aT LEAST we all get a chance to play in the competition.
[/quote:2s2p6f5q]

That’s kinda pointless if you know which players you want on your team already. I’d only resort to that if I was desperate for players, which presumably none of the teams were since there were so many players who didn’t compete.

SK8 2 : Jagr Bombs 17

Penguins vs Jagr Bombs game looked pretty good. Players were quite tired though.

I feel like I’m about to die. Legs gone, mind gone and I still have one game, then I’m coaching and then another training session later tonight
