Thanks for the run-down Keep ’em coming please. They’re a good way to keep track of what’s going on in the league.

As you should now know, the Dunedin contact league kicked off on Wednesday night, with what was probably the best display of refereeing any of you will ever see.[/quote:1p1xp0zy]

Well that has to be a first! Aren’t we supposed to blast the referees for every minor error we see, regardless of we are correct or not? And then when they get it right, we’re supposed to bitch about the times they didn’t get it right in the past and thank them for not screwing up as often as usual?

Would these perhaps be bits of ice that melted and refroze into a flat surface? Or maybe rain water?

Skating on sea water could certainly be interesting. It would be quite squishy I imagine. It’s like the polar opposite of when they use deionized water on rinks.

I wasn’t doubting it’s all ice, just questioning whether the ice wouldn’t be all rumply. It doesn’t take much to make ice crap to skate on, and being at sea swishing around and not being entirely level seems like it would cause all sorts of havoc with an ice surface.

    I’d also consider doing this:

But it’s a bit dodgy since apparently chunks of ice were occasionally falling off the bergs and crashing through the ice. But I can’t imagine skating on an ice berg at sea is any less dangerous.

Fingers crossed we don’t win a Darwin award for this.

    PS: You are completely insane

Lol, normally I’d laugh something like that off as a joke. Except you have a habit of pulling off totally insane stuff, so I do believe you.

How the heck are you going to guarantee there is a smooth surface to skate on? Wouldn’t it be all lumpy and un-skateable?

I voted “COME”, but I’m a little sketchy at this stage and it would depend on how I felt at the time. I’d say I’m about 20% likely to give it a bash right now and how likely it was that we could actually skate on it. It really doesn’t sound all that safe, albeit that wouldn’t necessarily stop me from doing it.

Inline hockey is on again this Saturday at 3pm, same place as usual and as un-serious and social is usual.

Everyone go to the Bog tomorrow morning at 9am to see the USA vs Canada Mens game

They open bang on the dot at 9am and will be serving breakfast, coffee, beer or whatever other beverage quenches your thirst at 9am in the morning

That makes a whole bunch more sense. We ended up on the ice at 6pm, then another bunch of players turned up for the scheduled 7pm time.

There’s going to be one hell of a big beginners session next week. We had plenty at the first “unofficial” session, then the next one looked like it was pretty packed out too so being combined next week is going to be quite busy.

Crap, now we’ve got an hour gap until drop-in starts. Pre-game beers at the Esplanade perhaps? I might make that a coke for me though, I’m a bit of a lightweight

Is there anything on at 7pm now?

None I’m guessing. At this stage I’m [b:10cydvdf]assuming[/b:10cydvdf] Graeme’s drop-in is on at 7:15pm as he said it would be. I’m basing this on fairly iffy information though so don’t shoot me if you turn up at 7:15pm and there’s a training session on

Don’t worry, coach says that’s all been discussed with you and apparently the scope for “beginners” has been increased this year.

in reply to: Re: drop in game sunday 28th Feb 7.15 for all (in Dunedin) #14965

Apparently there is now a training session on at 6pm tonight. Not sure what’s happening at 7:15pm, but I’m guessing it’s the drop-in that Graeme is organising.

[b:15nx0g12]That there has been another scheduling screwup![/b:15nx0g12]

I’ve been told to turn up tomorrow at 7pm as there is an open training session on for all players, both beginners and more experienced players. This will consist of drills, it’s not a scrimmage.

The DIHA schedule says there is a beginners practice on at 7pm, which presumably is not open to more experienced players.

So that’s three different sources of information all providing different info

Oh, and you forgot to mention that it’s in Dunedin again I’ll edit your post accordingly.
