Perhaps the bridging idea could come from the SIHL Open grade? The Dunedin Open grade team could be used as a Thunder development team perhaps?

And then the open grade team and Thunder could combine along with a few other senior players to form a three team local contact DIHL? The level of play would be quite high but not so high that the new Junior aged players aren’t out of their depth.

Then the weaker Junior aged players who aren’t likely to bridge the gap to the Thunder any time soon anyway would be able to move to the SNC DIHL rather than getting their asses kicked by in the contact DIHL.

Oops, Kara just pointed out that the score was 4-5 not 5-6 like I said above.

in reply to: NZ Aussie games #13142

And the score from tonight for those of you who missed it was 5 to 6 to New Zealand. Awesome game!

There was a shootout at the end which I’m assuming was to decide the winner of the series. NZ cleaned up

Did anyone record the TV footage? I’d love a copy of it if possible.

[quote:1xeyrd19]Captain of the Ice Blacks, Cory Down, said … “This was the biggest home crowd that we have ever played in front of, I think that freaked out some of our younger players who wanted to do their country proud and be the game breakers.”[/quote:1xeyrd19]

Huh? And what about the world champs. only a few months ago?

I watched a presentation given by a news editor a few weeks ago. During the question time I mentioned how every time I deal with news reporters they ALWAYS screw stuff up and make things up when they don’t know the real answer. The response was that it was MY fault for not ensuring they had all the facts … I didn’t agree

Final score 8 – 2 to Australia. Unfortunately Joshua Hay got booted from the game. According to the crowd he kicked one of the Australians in the leg. The Aussie player had to leave the ice with a leg injury because of it. Will be interesting to see exactly what happened on the replay tomorrow. Did anyone else see it (I didn’t) ?

In SkyWatch, TV guide, the newspaper etc. Basically anywhere that posts what is coming up on TV.

I guess your idea of bad is very different to mine. I’ve been on teams which averaged scores of about 10 : 0.5 goals per game and we never considered that a reason to stop playing. If we’d been being beaten 20 : 0 it would have been different, but we did score the occasional goal and rarely got beat by more than 20 goals even when the other team were trying to sink as many in the net as possible.

What I’m working on was originally a secret, so I won’t post it here. It may not be a secret anymore, I’m not sure, but I won’t post it here just in case I’m not allowed to yet. But if add me on IM I’ll chat with you about it and see if you know enough to be able to ge this thing up and running.

I don’t consider those stats to be that bad. They’re not good, but not “lets give up coz we suck” bad. I’ve been on teams with massively worse stats and I don’t think we ever considered pulling out of the league because of it.
