I ignored a blatant check from a midget player on Jon Kitchen. My reason for not putting the midget in the bin despite it being a non-checking game was due to the “if you actually knocked him over, he’d fall on top of you and squash you like a bug” rule.
Someone needs to rig up that online commentary system we discussed a while back. I’d love to listen in on the action live while it happened.
If anyone can hook up the feed I’m happy to stream it here on SlapShot.

[/quote:2z0jkxx2]By the sounds of it fighting is allowed in the league. From what was posted above they weren’t punished for it at all so I guess you can go clobber each other if you want.
As far as I’m aware if you fight, it’s automatic disqualification from a league. Hopefully they aren’t allowed to play for the rest of the season.
I guess if they’re not intending to remove the ice regularly then it shouldn’t matter too much if it’s concrete or not.
According to my mole in Christchurch, there is a major problem at the Alpine Ice Arena as the ice under the concrete near the toilets has lifted upwards and begun to tilt the wall. They’ve built the ice up to compensate for it and so are running it colder than normal which is causing the ice to become brittle and so it chips easier.
Their under-rink heating system is also not functioning correctly (perhaps this is causing the ice problems near the toilets?) and so they’ll need to fix that too.
As far as the upgrades go, they’re replacing the the pipes under the ice and refurbishing the boards. The whole process is likely to take 6-8 weeks. I haven’t heard anything about re-concreting it though.
Well I got game reports DURING the game from the linesman the other day. So sure, I guess the goalie can do it too! Everyone knows that goalies don’t do much anyway, they just stand around for most of the time anyway and flail their arms when the puck comes near.
I guess if he put the phone inside his catcher then he could post whilst playing!
