EDIT: oops, I missed the sarcasm ” title=”Tongue” />
Not if you are doing it to imply that you are representing your nations national team.
I think “Team Canada” is a registered trademark too.
imported_RyanMemberHow on earth did you end up owning the domain name?
imported_RyanMemberThe NZIHF could have pulled in huge numbers of people if they went around pretending they had Team Canada and Team USA and made up a bunch of crap about players coming along. They don’t because they have ethics and morals. I’m not applauding people who don’t.
imported_RyanMemberOops, that makes sense too considering he’s from there.
imported_RyanMemberI just heard a rumour that our very own Paul Roth[/url:3e1aeqwn] was the coach for Canada this evening. Not sure how reliable that rumour is though.
imported_RyanMemberVpatrol – would you be keen to shunt all the content over from their current site into WordPress.com posts?
I can setup the menus, widgets etc.,
Anyone keen to make a new header image?
Then once it’s done, we hand it to them and say “here, we thought your site sucked big hairy balls so bad that we gave up on you ever fixing it, so rebuilt it for you free. Please use it! … and we’ll help you move your domain over if that’s necessary too.” – or perhaps something more politically correct, but equally to the point.
Actions say more than words. I suspect they’ll be way more likely to pay attention if we hand something to them rather than just complaining about it.
imported_RyanMember[b:wo7nrp6r]On a related note:[/b:wo7nrp6r] Can someone please pester me if the DIHA site isn’t totally rebuilt in the next few weeks. I’ve been sitting on a redesign since the start of the year and have never gotten around to setting it up as I’ve become a fat lazy ass.
imported_RyanMemberThe site could also have a “Submit News” page for those of us who want to submit reports, so that we can help improve the sites content too. A select group of people at the NZIHF could be in charge of simply clicking “approve” or “trash” depending on whether their worth posting on the site or not.
We use a similar method on Ice Block for handling ice reports … https://ice.hellyer.kiwi/report/
imported_RyanMemberPerhaps we should just build a new website, and hand it over to them? The key in my opinion for the site is to make it easy to update. Whatever system they currently have is clearly not working; I’m guessing because somebody needs to manually update files on the server which is never going to work when you need to have a large’ish number of people with the ability to post stuff to the site. An ability to allow any old nutjob to post stuff to the site, but with a moderation queue in place so that someone can moderate them as they come in would be good too.
We could just put together something simple on WordPress.com like I did for the Red Devils a while back. Seems to be working okay for them, and is very easy to let people add posts, edit pages etc. plus all of the hosting is provided for free, so the NZIHL would actually save money that way (they’d probably want to pay to remove ads, but that’s only about US$30 a year I think).
Here’s a [b:1xyx79lv]very crude[/b:1xyx79lv] site I put together whilst writing this post:
http://ryanhellyer.wordpress.com/EDIT: Oops, I just did the NZIHF site, not the NZIHL one. Same principle applies though. Just a matter of changing the header image.
The search box etc. can be removed from the header, they’d just need to pay an extra US$15/year for one of the upgrades to do that … or the header image could be adapted to fit in with the search box.
Crazy idea that will never work? Or a simple solution to the site sucking ass in spectacular fashion?

[/quote:lvtjbhxt]Do you know if that was sorted out for the games in Christchurch?
imported_RyanMemberHis twitter account has virtually no followers, so I suggested @five15design follows him, which should help him pick up a bit of traction via retweets.
imported_RyanMemberYikes. Too many penalties.
imported_RyanMemberThanks Azzy ” title=”Smiley” />
imported_RyanMemberThanks for the clip ” title=”Smiley” />
imported_RyanMemberHave you volunteered to help out?
That might be more constructive than bitching about it in public.
