Good facilities for players are very much secondary to good facilities for the punters in a professional sport. They’re the ones paying the bills after all.
imported_RyanMemberAre you guys saying that the goal judges requested that there be no in goal cameras so that people wouldn’t be able to prove that they cocked up!? That seems rather ridiculous if it is true. I hope I’m misinterpreting.
imported_RyanMemberNo one is saying they shouldn’t make money, just that claiming they are attempting to promote the local game is clearly bollocks; they really don’t give a shit about hockey or the NZ public.

[/quote:3dx8lcx2]It’s possible they’re just pretending ESPN are covering it to make them sound more legit. Or perhaps ESPN said they were happy to receive the footage if it was sent to them. Doesn’t mean they have any intention of ever showing it though.
From Andrew Morrison of TV3:
[quote:3dx8lcx2]Promoter Craig Douglas says ESPN have requested it, but won’t play it live.[/quote:3dx8lcx2]imported_RyanMemberI thought that was pretty shit actually. All talk from TV3 on Twitter, but no substance in the actual show. It was still advertising the event rather than going on the attack.

imported_RyanMemberI think most of the people in here were aware of the problems before the tickets were available.

[/quote:1o0vnm9t]Oh. Well then yeah, that sounds like a serious penalty is deserved.
imported_RyanMemberI assume it’s not classed as unsportsmanlike unless it is deemed intentional.
I always feel there’s a balancing act between standing static as a referee and stepping out of the way. Stepping increases your chances of getting flattened as you may just step into the players intended direction of travel. But sometimes you know they’re either out of control and about to nail you, so you have to step out of the way. Hard to judge.
I usually referee low level players, so the chances of them not actually seeing you at all can be quite high so I often have to step out of the way or high tail it backwards to avoid getting flattened. At the higher levels players should be more likely to have their heads up and looking where they’re going, but that often doesn’t seem the case unfortunately.
imported_RyanMemberI have a possibility of a size L CCM, so if I can get that, we’ll go with that one. Otherwise I’ll phone you to collect your Mission helmet.
Thanks!
imported_RyanMemberAwesome. Thanks Graham.
imported_RyanMemberProblem solved.
