Me too! In fact I have considerably less photos because I’m normally the only one taking them <img decoding=” title=”Sad” /> Ditto for videos.

I found this site tonight and it looks like something we could consider in the future …

    http://operator11.com/about/

Using that service, it would be (in theory) fairly trivial to setup a live video broadcast of a hockey game. All we’d need is a beefy wireless router which can cover the entire rink and some laptops connected to a few video cameras. The video feeds can be clipped and audio commentary added on the fly to create full live video coverage of the event.

All we need is two video cameras which can output a live feed, most modern cameras should be able to do this I think. Then a beefy wireless router (~$500 I think) and possibly an upgraded broadband connection at the rink plus a few laptops sending the live video by WiFi back to the main computer for output to the web.

The only tricky problem with the site above, is that we would need  to upload the two live camera feeds plus the audio feed all at the same time, ready for processing elsewhere. It would be a lot less bandwidth intensive if we could cut them together before uploading. But the bandwidth used wouldn’t be too bad if we were only uploading 320×240 25fps.

… just a thought for the future.

That’s what was agreed at the DIHA planning meeting last year after Kara and I recommended it. Or at least something similar.

There was going to be a different, less serious DIHL held during the winter/SIHL season to prevent the various competitions from butchering each others numbers and to accommodate ice time. But I pulled out of helping Kara organise the B-grade so I guess she changed tack quite radically after that.

The other Dunedinite to make her way into the Southern Womens team was Sonja Texley. She thoroughly impressed with some aggressive defensive work.
