She lives in Hove, but has to travel quite a long way to play I think. Her last name is Perkins.

She’s in the bottom left of this photo:

My Dad has had a job offer out were you guys live in NZ and we are going through the process of moving out there. We are planning to move into the Botany Downs area and i was wondering what club should i resume playing with?[/quote:2c0i4g0y]

The Auckland Ice Hockey Association are who you want to talk to. We are at the other end of the country from there unfortunately. You will find more information on the AIHA website … http://aiha.org.nz/

Anyway i was wondering what the Ice hockey is like out there? and what its like out there in general?[/quote:2c0i4g0y]

I think it’s probably more popular than in the UK, but since we have considerably less people the top level tends to be a bit lower. My friend Kerry plays somewhere down in Southern England and says the level of play there is lower than here, but it’s difficult to judge since both countries will have big discrepencies in playing level depending on where you are.

The most popular area for hockey is the Southern region where we are, there are a lot more rinks down here than up north, although each rink tends to be a lot less busy than their northern counterparts due to the small population down this way. The busiest city for hockey is probably Auckland, so as far as good local competition goes you are in one of the better places.

Hopefully someone who has played in both the UK and NZ will be able to let you know more about the comparison between hockey in the two countries.

I find it very weird that they’ve used NHL footage for an NZIHL video.

I was wondering that too. The team aren’t exactly short on goalie talent though, so perhaps they’re spreading the games around the goalies?

they haven’t even worked out the stats on the website for the opening round …[/quote:idgf625p]

A volunteer to sort Thunder stats for us would be handy.

If the NZIHL don’t post them, we may as well post them ourselves. I’m assuming the team itself would have access to the stats after each game so you could presumably get them of the Thunder management, process them into a PDF format and I’ll post them in the news section.

how come the photos from auckland games went online pretty much straight after the game?
    [/quote:1uwpdvka]

Because Peter Idoine took them, he’s pretty slick when it comes to stuff like that and usually uploads them on the day of the game. He emailed me last week asking for photos from the opening round, but I had no idea where he could find anything like that, so I suggested he contact the Thunder team management about it. It would make sense to have an official NZIHL photographer to collect photos for us all to oggle at, but I guess the league/team has been busy sorting out other things instead. Even crappy photos would be better than no photos.

Can you please post the scores from the games?![/quote:3e925eh8]

No idea sorry. I can’t even remember the scores from the games I watched.

The stats usually come out within a few weeks, but Alexandra generally sucks at getting the information to Joyce for processing, so I wouldn’t hold your breathe waiting. Anyone else know the scores?

Are you playing goalie or out?

The trials for SNC grade were held yesterday BTW. No one seemed to know about it though, so I’m guessing it wont matter that you didn’t turn up.

You don’t happen to have any of me reffing do you?

If you were refereeing during the first Southern Womens game, then I may do. But Rob has those photos on his CF card, so I’ll need to wait till I get them from him to know. I got sick of taking photos later on, so I didn’t do any after the Beasts vs Penguins game. I certainly wasn’t aiming the camera at referees intentionally, they’re not that interesting, so it would require you being in a photo by accident.

    Violence aplenty …

Since it was only Chris, the referee ignored it.

So Rob decided to get the Penguins back by groping Kyle's arm whilst the officials weren't looking.

    But Kyle got away

So Chris caught him in the corner.

And Callan finished him off later on.
