[/quote:25yllnvz]I heard 6-7 after the first period. I guess Toby let in a few more after that.
imported_RyanMemberYeah, we were getting reports on our way back from Alexandra (SIHL SNC round). Was a bit scary hearing about 11-1 after the first period, so was glad to hear the final result wasn’t 3x that.
At least I hear you goalies let in roughly the same number of goals each, so you can’t be blamed ” title=”Tongue” />
I wonder why the Red Devils did so much better on home turf. Perhaps the more familiar rink helped?

It seems there were some mis-communications. The Beasts were apparently informed of it by a blackboard at the front of the rink.
imported_RyanMemberThanks Chris.

A player or a goalkeeper who directly shoots, throws, or bats the puck with his hand or stick outside the playing area, shall be assessed a Minor Penalty.[/i:17bddnh9][/quote:17bddnh9]So if I take a shot and accidentally roof it, I get a penalty? I don’t recall seeing anyone get a penalty for that before. Isn’t it just a penalty if you do it intentionally? I thought the ref was supposed to hold a faceoff when that happens.
"Kyle":17bddnh9 wrote:[i:17bddnh9]Rule 534 Interference, a) A player on either the player’s bench of the penalty bench who, by means of his stick or his body, interferes with the movement of the puck or any opponent on the ice during the progress of the play shall be assessed a Minor penalty.[/i:17bddnh9][/quote:17bddnh9]I always thought it was an automatic penalty for leaning over at all, but that refs were just being lazy by not handing them out. I guess not then. A useful thing to know as it will encourage me to lean over the boards more often ” title=”Smiley” />
imported_RyanMemberTwaz a bummer ” title=”Sad” /> I was looking forward to tuning in and clipping it all together with the video footage. It was a good idea at least. I guess deciding it’s a good idea a day or so before the game doesn’t help.
Rhys tested the radio today though and the signal worked around the whole rink, so hopefully it’s up and running for next time.
If you guys can get some decent commentary going, then all we need are some decent cameras (three would do I think), then find a club member who’s into videography and I don’t think it’s unreasonable that a broadcast (channel 9 level atleast) footage could be made. I can’t remember the exact pricing, but it’s something like 100th of the price to have something shown on Channel 9 if you do all of the filming, editing and commentary yourself. Just a thought for the future … of course finding someone who is willing (and has some skill) to burn the midnight oil messing about with video editing would not be particularly easy.
imported_RyanMemberCan the above comments. Karen Nicholas just emailed me, apparently Al has discussed this with Bode and it’s all sorted. I’ll do the videos as intended and turn it into a DVD. It’ll be available to the Thunder team and to Auckland if they’re willing to pay for a DVD copy (and anyone else who wants it).
I’ll post a brief highlights clip to advertise the DVD, that’s it. Nothing that will be of use to other teams, just some short clips of the Thunder kicking ass at low res.
imported_RyanMember"Kyle":2c8d2cut wrote:She is very keen for you to video it for coaching purposes though. She’ll probably want a wide view, from the stand at the end of the rink, rather than closeups.
[/quote:2c8d2cut]No. Not worth the effort.
If I’m feeling particularly energetic I might do the Canterbury game if I’m allowed to post it online, albeit limited to viewing by Dunedin players only. It’ll depend if I can be bothered or not though, chances are I won’t.
imported_RyanMember"Kyle":1f40meh3 wrote:Just a note. I spoke to Bode tonight about this. She thinks the commentary radio is exciting, all good. She doesn’t want video going up on the web until the end of the season, as the other teams will use it to prep for playing against us, and we don’t want to give the Auckland teams that advantage.
[/quote:1f40meh3]Actually, I spose I could lock it behind the forum login and block any non Dunedin people from access it. That’s pretty lame though.

imported_RyanMember"Rhys M":32pl9ec5 wrote:BY the way, cheers for putting that up ryan. I’ll see what I can do in the way of a good reciever for you tommorow
[/quote:32pl9ec5]No problem. I just hope the signal makes it that far without breaking up. I have 60m of ethernet cabling, so I could string it along the office wall, through the cashiers area, out the door, up the wall and onto the balcony (below the scoreboard) to a computer. But that would be a giant pain in the backside, so hopefully the signal makes it through the walls.
imported_RyanMember"Rhys M":3o6ms05s wrote:Oh and by the way, just to get the word out there, we’re broadcasting around 107mhz, probably most likely 107.9mhz at this stage, but I’ll put signs up advertising what the frequency is anyway[/quote:3o6ms05s]Cool. I’ll put up a tentative news post saying that there will ‘probably’ be commentary available and it will probably be at that frequency.
PS: This is awesome! Thanks Aaron, Rhys and anyone else who may help out ” title=”Smiley” />

"Rhys M":2w90cpbr wrote:only puts out less than a watt. [/quote:2w90cpbr]That’s a lot more than any of the cheapo Dick Smith ones, so hopefully it’ll do the trick. We may be able to wire through some ethernet cable to run a laptop from on the balcony above the rink office if it won’t go through the walls – hopefully we won’t need to though as that would be a pain in the butt.
"Rhys M":2w90cpbr wrote:Does anyone have a real long USB extension cable that we can use for both night, the longer the better! just so we can mount it in a high place for the best coverage![/quote:2w90cpbr]I only have a 1 m long USB cable.
What I do have however, is a 3 pin power socket to USB adaptor, so you could run an extension electrical cable to wherever you needed it instead.
Where do you want to put it though? If the commentators are on the padded seats in the main grandstand, I can’t think of anywhere it could go unless you tried to string it from the ceiling.
Do you have a decent FM receiver to use? I have an old school dual tape deck 1980’s style ghetto blaster I could use, but if you have something better then I won’t bring that along.
imported_RyanMember"Azzy77":nbmzn8w6 wrote:Um Ryan we are setting up the lighting and music tomorrow night. So I guess we could trial the broadcast then….find out from Wick when we are doing that[/quote:nbmzn8w6]If you get the FM transmitter sorted, then let me know when you are testing it and I’ll head over to the rink to test the live podcast. I’m free all night so can come on short notice. I think Rhys is going to need to find something better than a $39 transmitter though. The one I tried can’t even go through my living room wall.
