And you forgot the ° symbol, it should be 100°C or 273.14K.
imported_RyanMemberThe following news items should clear everything up:
http://dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/practice-times-2/
http://dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/midgets-practice-back-on/If there’s no Juniors grade, the only option they have is to play in the seniors grade, either SNC or contact/Premier (or whatever it is called).

Am I supposed to have paid this already?[/quote:b4ws2oqu]According to one of the above news posts, you need to pay in March. I don’t have any more information than that.
imported_RyanMemberI have a fuzzy memory of reading an email which said that midgets is for under 17 now and bantams for under 15. I could be wrong though.
imported_RyanMemberStephen Christos replied to me this evening and requested that the topic be moved from public view.
Hopefully the time it’s been posted for has been enough to alert the masses over the debacle.
imported_RyanMemberLol, there will be lots of confused midgets.
… adding news item now …
imported_RyanMember[b:2t9ukphp]Some tips on inserting a blade into your shaft:[/b:2t9ukphp]
It seems like a simple concept, but I’ve seen quite a few people break their sticks purely because they didn’t do it right.Don’t do what some morons do and touch the stick to the element (yes some people really are that stupid). It overheats the carbon until it becomes brittle and breaks.
Some people heat the shaft as well as the blade, but you should be able to insert it fine after only heating the goo on the blade. Hold the blade as close to the element as possible and wait till the goo starts to bubble a little.
When you put the blade in, make sure you don’t twist it at an angle. Put the butt end on the ground, grab the hosel of the blade (not the blade itself) and push it directly downwards, that way you won’t twist it as it goes in. If you push it at an angle you risk breaking the shaft.
If the blade is loose in the shaft, don’t use it! Pull the blade out, wrap some tape around the bit that goes into the shaft, re goo it, heat it and repeat the process. It should be nice and tight and have no movement. If there is movement, the blade will break.
Another option is to use a camp stove/bunsen burner. They’re nice and quick, but make sure you don’t overheat it. My friend Kate borrowed the bunsen burner in my lab to replace her blade one day. She decided she wanted her shaft nice and hot as well as the blade and held the bunsen up to the shaft for a couple of minutes. Apparently carbon fibre does burn! She also set fire to her blade which was quite amusing ” title=”Tongue” /> Then the shaft split as the blade went in. The bunsen approach does work very well if you are careful though.
If you don’t want to use your own stove for this, then let me know as there’s a little place in Henley with a stove which works really well.

imported_RyanMemberEr, well it is already. I just haven’t added Kyle and Chris’s because I’m not sure if they intended those to be public or not. They posted them when the topic was here in the Hockey Admin board, not when it was in the General Chatter board.
Should I move your posts Kyle and Chris?
imported_RyanMemberInteresting/appropriate response.
What violations of the commerce act do you think the rink would be breaching?
imported_RyanMember"player":32nmrf23 wrote:think it should be moved back into the General Chatter forum. its should all be out in public for al to see. both sides
[/quote:32nmrf23]That’s two for, one against and I haven’t heard back from the Stephen Christos so I’ll move it back where it came from. Minus some of the later posts as I’m not sure if people intended for those to be public or not (let me know if you want your later posts moved back and I’ll do that too).
imported_RyanMember"Kyle":25rqzedq wrote:Neil bans people from the rink quite often. Including members of the DIHA, though normally its annoying little shits at social skating sessions. I don’t know if this sort of banning would be allowed, but Dunedin Ice Stadium is not a government body, so it’s not subject to some laws – the NZ Bill of Rights Act is one that doesn’t apply for example.
[/quote:25rqzedq]"Chris":25rqzedq wrote:Generally, you’re right, and Neil can ban people for whatever reason he wants basically, so long as he’s not discriminating on the basis of race, age etc etcHowever, because the DIHA is a stakeholder in the rink, banning a DIHA member from the ice during DIHA-approved trainings, competitions etc probably doesn’t fly.[/quote:25rqzedq]
I was assuming the legal issue was related to it being anti-competitive. Kinda like Neil banning the owners of the dairy down the road from entering the rink as they’re in competition. Or banning Kyle for organising a roller hockey game.
But now that I think about it more, there are good reasons for the rink banning competitors from entering their premises so I guess that doesn’t apply.
Does anybody think this should be moved back into the General Chatter forum (minus some the posts which were made after I moved it)? I’ve had one request for it be kept out of the public eye and now one for it to be in the public eye. I haven’t heard back from Stephen so until then I’ll leave this up to a majority rules approach unless someone can convince me otherwise.
imported_RyanMemberI’m no legal expert (Chris can fill that role). But I am certain that there is no way Neil can ban you from the rink, or at least not without breaking the law himself. I would put this down to a lapse in judgement by Neil.
You guys are providing a service to the skating public anyway. Getting skates sharpened at the rink is tricky at best as you need to make sure the right person is there to do them for you.
Ticking him off is probably not a good thing for the Dunedin Ice Hockey Association to do though, so I’m assuming your advertisement won’t be allowed back on here. I’ll leave that up to the committee though as it’s not my place to decide such things. I’ve emailed a link to this forum topic to the new DIHA president Stephen Christos. I’ve left the original forum topic you made though.
imported_RyanMemberIn the interests of not upsetting Neil, I’ll remove the advertisement on the home page and wait till the DIHA tells me what to do.
EDIT: Done. Now time to actually read the letter – I just skimmed it at first.
imported_RyanMemberWow, that’s pretty cool!
Kara and Tom will be particularly envious I imagine.
imported_RyanMemberI find that mail bombing likely recruits with a link to the appropriate forum topic tends to help with recruiting players.
