Bottom line is if you  want to improve join the club and come to regular practices ( like Christchurch school kids do) or book some wierd late time after everyone else has finished.[/quote:v2s0g8co]

If all the school kids came along to the intermediate and advanced practices we’d get inundated though, so some age group sessions would be handy, much like with the powerskating.

7:00pm according to Bode who has just filled me in on some schedule changes I haven’t been sent and are about to post in the latest news.

It’s not the premier team though, but the players from the advanced practice which is normally held at 9pm.

I’ve sent an email to the DIHA committee pointing out the schedule error. Hopefully someone will know what to do.

Let the guy sign up for dihl, hes canadian we can’t let him wait four months to play hockey,
from indications on Sunday I am sure there is enough space for him, besides its not like he blatantly just didn’t sign up cos hes lazy like a lotta people, he didn’t know about it….

I assumed since Jane hadn’t asked for more players that all the spots were filled.

    Welcome to the forum <img decoding=” title=”Smiley” />

Thursday night would be a good time to turn up. 8pm is an intermediate level practice and at 9pm is an advanced practice. If you post back with a rough guide to what experience you have we may be able to point you in the direction of which practice to turn up to. From there we’ll be able to get an idea of what level you are at and which competition you should enter.

The Dunedin Ice Hockey League (DIHL) registration is over for 2007 unfortunately, so you’ll need to wait till next year to join. Although there is the option to play as a drop-in player in the leagues. See the DIHL page for more information … http://dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/dihl/%5B/url:14zhz6wu%5D

Other than that, there’s the occasional scrimmage held which is posted in this very topic.

Oh yeah, and we have lots of equipment lying round, mostly complete junk, but there should be enough ratty bits of gear to stop you getting totally munched during games. Just stop by the equipment shed before practice and someone will be able to help you out. If there’s no one in the equipment shed or you don’t know where it is then just ask anybody who looks vaguely like they know what’s going and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

    cheers,
    Ryan

I do feel left out and rejected!

It’s also useful for us to see what you are sending out. If you get inundated with requests to play it’s helpful to know what you have and haven’t done so we know what to do next time.

    You missed out BK.

in reply to: Aardwolfs Southern Migration 2007 #5921

The DIHA committee decided not to postpone/cancel the powerskating so the game times are …

    [list:3b51viiw]
    [*:3b51viiw]10:00pm Aardwolfs B-team vs Dunedin Beasts[/*:m:3b51viiw]
[*:3b51viiw]11:15pm Dunedin Ducks vs Aardwolfs A-team.[/*:m:3b51viiw][/list:u:3b51viiw]

We’re short on players unfortunately so our teams will be quite lean. Only a total of 15 players.

Apparently the level of players is quite low as most of the top Aardwolfs aren’t coming because of the Nationals on the week or so after. So the Beasts and Ducks shouldn’t have too much of a battle on their hands.

    Hey Stefan,
Did Bode ask you to post that rundown of the game above? If so I’ll post it on the Dunedin Premier Series page[/url:gt9hn18g] as well coz that’s where she got me to put the first two.

They’re also awarded to administrators as well. Daniel Jang got one a few years back for his efforts in creating the Otago University Inline Hockey Club and Dunedin Aces Inline Hockey Club.

My understanding is if you are coming from inside the zone, you have to cross the blue line on the neutral zone side, with one foot, going onto the line isn’t enough to consider yourself re-onside.

The way I think about it, not that I have to much being stuck in my own little blue area all the time, is which ever side you are approaching you have to cross the far side of the blue line to enter/exit depending on what way you are approaching from

Hence entering you can hang on the blue line, and be fine.
But exiting you have to get a foot back into the neutral zone before you can reenter
    [/quote:21jsjct5]

Er, I’m not sure I follow that. So was I in the wrong or in the right?

    Ryan,

in reply to: Make up A grade team vs Beasts #6169

[b:3vmjri8h]Just to reiterate here coz I’m not sure it’s obvious from my above post:[/b:3vmjri8h]
I was in the zone initially, then headed back up to the blue line, crossed one foot plus the puck over it and my other foot may have crossed on to the blue line but not over it and then I went back in.

This isn’t just a case of me skating the puck in initially, members of my own team were in the zone at the time. So the question is really “what constitutes leaving the zone”, rather than “what constitutes an off-side”.
