We lost 8-1 against the penguins, and like Chris said won 8-2 against Maniototo. Not sure about any of the other games sorry.
April 22, 2008 at 10:54 am in reply to: Umpires for extra Bulls v Bullfrogs game Wed 23rd April #8515JasonMemberI’m still in for tomorrow night…
We were going to run a 3 man system between Jack, Myself and Callan. It lets Jack and I get back up to speed with our reffing, and Callan a chance to line a game. I’m not positive but I would say that both Jack & Callan are in.Just let me know if I’m (we’re) needed tomorrow night.

[/quote:1lvt8ddk]Actually I said I’d ref only if I wasn’t going to be playing in the game, I didn’t really see much point for me to ref as it is my last game here this year.
You can put me in wherever I’m needed though.
JasonMemberJust wondering if I’d be able to play in this… I’m going back to Canada for a few months over xmas etc, and will already be in Canada during the trip. I could fly over to Toronto, play in the games, and join the team on the flights back to NZ because that would be roughly when I’d be heading back here.
Does that sound too complicated or far-fetched, or is it plausible?
Seems like a long-shot to me, just wondering your opinion?
JasonMemberI’m in if you still need players.

I think everybody would rather shoot against a goalie anyway.

JasonMemberI don’t mind causing trouble or confrontation, I don’t like making a constant ass of myself.
The way I see it if you take a penalty and in doing so you prevent a goal or it a was warranted then by all means do so. But if you’re going to take a penalty just cause you like to argue with the ref then the whole team gets to play shorthanded for the next 2 minutes.
While you have a right to free speech, you voluntarily play as a member of the IIHF and play by their rules.
Rule #201 says “Players that do not wear a ‘C’ or ‘A’ on their jersey shall not be granted the privileges of conversing with the Referee.”
“A complaint concerning a penalty is not a matter relating to the interpretation of the rules and shall be penalized. — Misconduct Penalty “
If you have a problem then kindly discuss it with Jack, or Andy or myself and we can talk to the ref.
JasonMemberOne way or another you still deserved a penalty because you decided to argue with the ref, whether you deserved it or not deal with it, shut up and go to the box like a good boy. Don’t argue with the ref and make yourself look like an idiot by doing so.
JasonMemberI’d just like to jump in here and say that the views of both Jack and Chris don’t reflect those of the entire Beasts team. True it was a rough game, but it was also a fast well played game, and we lost due to playing with the puck in our own end and not putting the shots on johnies net.
Would like to say great job to Phil too, you called a good game, sure there were lots of things you missed, on both sides, but if you called over 30 mins of penalties through the game nobody can say you weren’t doing your job. You got to remember that the refs can only call what they see and they can’t see everything. Thanks for your work through the season Phil, and I’ll be happy to help ref next year if you need the people.
Johnies played a good fast game, and deserved the win. Congrats

[quote:3fw4o8xz]I couldn’t figure how to track down their IP address though[/quote:3fw4o8xz]
Yea their IP won’t be logged unless you have IP logging turned on through the server, you can get scripts to log IP’s and those same scripts will usually block them as well. If you have a script somewhere to track how many hits etc you get that might track IP’s as well.

JasonMemberAs far as i know you’re more or less stuck with Spam members, you’ll need to either put up with them and just delete them as members, or else implement a system to block them signing up which will most likely involve messing with the php code. (as you’ve already said)
You mentioned the fuzzy image verification in order to register, I think you mean CAPTCHA, and from what i’ve heard it’s not too tough to implement, but you will still need to mess with your php code, but I would assume you won’t stand too much chance of losing posts etc, because you probably only edit the register script & perhaps one or two other files, but your main forum content won’t be touched as you won’t edit those files.
You might want to check out [url:3vyz6y9b]http://www.matthewleverton.com/howto/phpBB2-captcha.html[/url:3vyz6y9b]
he talks about adding custom captcha images to the forum. Although I think he uses PHPBB2 which already has it’s own captcha implemented, but looking at his code i think you might be able to use it with any version. Also heard there’s forum mods that can stop spam members, not really sure where you’d find them though.
Jason
P.S. Not sure if you’ve done it yet or not but you might consider blocking guest posts in the actual forum as sooner or later you’ll get guests posting spam messages. And you always know who’s posting too.
