MemberThe finals report doesn’t even say that the admirals scored, just notes the score changed to 2-1 after Swarm got their second goal.
I find the game reports of dubious quality. I would much rather that the scanned the official scoresheet and put it up. While the stats tend to be up-to-date, the scoresheet is more useful to understand the game.
I would much rather each home team had someone unassociated with the team writing the reports. They could be a lot longer and cover the more interesting parts of the game – dubious calls, big saves, confrontations between players rather than just “here’s the details I picked up from the scoresheet” – the sheet can tell us that.
The web site is OK, updates are fairly frequent. Home page needs to be sexed up, crazy that it doesn’t have any photos there.

MemberSouthern beat Auckland 6-1. Jaimee Wood apparently had a great game and the team all played well.
Kyle
MemberUmm, I presume just the final and its mistyped.
Origin is on after those broadcast date.Kyle

MemberIt also avoids any dodgy dealings by teams. If it’s possible to create an extra point for a game by finishing up even at the end of regulation, both teams could play for that and then go hard in overtime to get full points for the win.
It’s what makes it really hard for NHL teams to catch others once they get behind in the standings – some games are worth three points, but you can only get 2 for a win, so you’re chasing teams and they both get points.
Kyle
MemberIIHF rules have 2 points for an overtime/shootout win, 3 points for regulation.
It’s because there’s 3 points for a game, if they give one to the losing team for being tied at the end of regulation, there’s only 2 for the winner.
NHL does it the other way – 2 points for a win (in regulation or overtime), 1 point for losing in overtime.

MemberSwarm by 2, off a late empty net goal.

MemberSounds like Thunder had a pretty awful final weekend. Were they running their top guys a lot or did they bring in some guys who hadn’t seen much ice all season?
Kyle
MemberWe’re trying to arrange for their kids to come down and play our kids some time in September. Good to support a new club that is trying to grow.

Member1-1 end of regulation.

MemberNZIHL shows Admirals had two wins (I’ve heard split series from someone else) so presuming that’s correct, neither Devils nor Thunder can catch admirals this coming weekend – admirals are on 26 points, Thunder and Devils on 19 can only get to 25 when they play each other.
Thunder gonna really regret that home series against Admirals where they just didn’t play well and gave up points that would see them still in this.
Stampede play Swarm for some pride this weekend.
Kyle
MemberThunder beat Stampede last night 13 – 2. That would be their best result ever in the national league by a long way.
Admirals beat Red Devils in over time in the first game 8-7. If Devils win the second game Thunder & Devils are still in it, if Admirals win they are through to the final.
Be nice if the final wasn’t sorted until the last weekend!
Kyle
MemberThat’s what’s unusual about it. It’s a fairly technical call though, might be the linesman was actually mentoring a new national league referee, who knows.
