[/quote:kinwbru7]Yeah. Twitter is your friend. Much more so than the web site.
KyleMemberSwarm win 5-3. Really opened up in the last period. Sounds like it was a pretty good final.
KyleMemberFrom the conversation I had last night, these series should be self-funding, which would be a relief.
Looking at running it mid-season, so gaps will need to be made in both leagues to allow it.

[/quote:1348m3s4]That’s because it’s not approved yet. It’s only a concept at this stage, NZIHF hasn’t even discussed it as a formal proposal. Australia has jumped the gun by about 5 steps.
KyleMemberNZ had a couple of chances to get closer. Challis had an empty net when IBs were shorthanded in the 2nd and Heyd caught the goalie coming out to play, but his shot was deflected wide by a defenceman who tipped it out of the air.
2nd period cost NZ, three goals. Australia definitely looked a much stronger team, Nothling played well to keep it that close.
KyleMemberNZ looked OK last night against China, but they’ll have to step it up at least a couple of notches this afternoon if they want to compete against a really impressive Australian team.
I suspect they’ll also need to up the physicality, checking, and penalty count to slow the game down and bring it down to their level. Trench warfare probably suits the IBs more than an open flowing game.

[/quote:36bvqu6t]No, I mean it’s moot in that it’s now been decided that she can’t play. I think Toby will now back up the Chinese goaltender.
KyleMemberActually I meant Jaimee isn’t going to grow any more, her age isn’t particularly relevant. Physically there’s not much difference to her playing in the game now as there would be in 5 years.
I suspect it’s a moot point by now.
KyleMemberThey spelt her name right on the front page of the ODT, but got it wrong in the mini-story in the sports section.
KyleMemberJaimee’s not a man, she’s fully grown remember. She’s got good gear – her family went shopping last year.
KyleMemberI liked the line three inches behind the goal line inside the goal to help on video to see if the puck touched the line. That made a heap of sense. As did the smaller goal.
KyleMember12 and a half minutes. She let in 2 in the first 9 minutes, but they got a couple of quick ones after that which messed up her stats a little near the end.
Great to see her out there, she was stoked.

While it is a great opportunity for her, and for the most part she will just sit on the bench. If something *knock on wood* happens to the Chinese goaltender then she will be thrown out in front of some guys with some serious shots, its almost unsafe.
[/quote:1bnlgriz]Jaimee’s played senior hockey before, she’s got good equipment, and is a very experienced goalie – this is about her 7th season I think, I don’t think it’s unsafe.
KyleMemberShe got a mention on stuff too:
