Southern got cleaned up by Canterbury last night in Gore well and truly.

Came back to draw this morning’s game 3-3.

Thunder pull Parry when the game gets to 6-2 early in the second. Bryant keeps a clean sheet for the team to get 4 back. Lose it in the shootout, 7-6 (according to txt I just got from Aaron).

    Ouch.

Picking games this year is a joke. I’m having more luck picking soccer results, a sport I know virtually nothing about, than ice hockey.

I meant game sheets for each game.

Full stats should definitely be available on the web site. Australian league does this, gives you a feeling for the game.

I think it’s the coordinator of each franchise, but it might be that the manager ends up with it.

    But yes, the quality varies.

Two nights ago the sequence of COPS, border patrol, MAF etc got even lower with “Noise Control”. Following three or so noise control officers around Auckland’s buskers and noisier parties, talking up their work.

“The Backup” showing long periods of the goalie on the bench followed by brief moments of being on the ice when the team is getting its arse kicked, would be riveting in comparison.

Ha. Actually I meant is as something that is a little unique in ice hockey. Most sports carry multiple subs, ice hockey only really has one, everyone else is likely to get icetime.

The role of the backup goaltender is a very interesting one. The often greet all the players as they go onto the ice – high fives, touching gloves etc. They help coach/run the bench. I remember a certain Stampede backup staying out on the Dunedin ice while the zamboni came on in an early NZIHL season to be last skater on the ice.

Just a wee bit of a tribute to the backup rather than no respect.

I’d put the camera on the ice showing their legs and sticks as they stepped onto the ice. That’s a transition moment from the changing room to the game.

With the backup goalie holding the door for them.

What rule book is that? The 5 minute major + automatic game misconduct is still in the iihf rule book.

I’ve got Stampede over admirals, Thunder and Swarm to split.

Red Devils seem to making a real mess of my early season finals prediction with their mid-season “actually we’re still quite a good team, first weekend was an exception” thing. Bastards.

It’s not in the events manual, it’s in the rules and regulations:

    8.5 League Standings
    (a) Points System
Points shall be awarded as follows:
3 points for the winning team at the conclusion of regulation time
1 point for both teams at the conclusion of regulation time if the game is tied
An additional point earned for the team winning the game in a 5-minute overtime
period, or the Game Winning Shots Procedure if the teams are still tied following
    conclusion of the overtime period
0 points for the team losing the game in regulation time
    (b) Finals Qualification
The two teams with the highest points earned in round robin qualify for the final.
If tied, then match results between tied teams will determine placing.
If still tied, the goal difference between the tied teams will determine the placing.
The final determination is based on most goals scored in total including round robin games.

The table is actually copied from the official table.

I presume the order between the two is determined by goal difference at present.
