MemberLike Thunder, I’m not sure if they have all their imports yet. But otherwise it looked fairly close to a full squad.

MemberStampede and Thunder played a reasonably good pre-season game in Gore tonight. Didn’t look like there was too much rust. Stampede picked up a couple of early goals before Dunedin got one back around the net – Tom Wilson? Wesseling got a nice wrist shot in off a face off in the second and Stampede picked up another to go into the third 3-2 up. Two more goals in the third – point shot from Weir and another to… Heyd? saw Dunedin up one, but Stampede got one back with a few minutes to go to tie it up and finish the game 4-4.
Wesseling got pretty badly hurt in the 2nd and was on oxygen and a needle with st johns after the game, hope it’s nothing too bad. Good crowd in Gore, about 250 watching the game.

This way everyone would be playing against similar skill and there would be no 15 goal deficits. Not quite sure how it would work exactly but it’s food for thought.
[/quote:2y6yo6ef]We’ll certainly look at this for next year. Some years the tournament is fairly even, other years it ends up like this year where there’s a definite A/B split between the teams. Previously we’ve just divided the teams into two pools, we’d consider two grades if we could get back up to 8 teams again.
"NZblackice":2y6yo6ef wrote:The only thing I think was complete and utter bullshit about the whole weekend was Tom Wilson. I waited outside the Penguins locker room for 45 minutes to get an autograph and he ignored me. The nerve of this guy. Just so you know Tom, the posters are coming off my wall, and I will NOT be buying your jersey when you make it into the show.
[/quote:2y6yo6ef]Man, I thought you were waiting there to rough him up. I wasted 45 minutes waiting there with my camera!

It’s following the IIHF rule change.
Here it happened in February at the NZIHF.NZIHL AGM.

"Azzy77":it4bsake wrote:Plod asked for discussion here and mentioned it had been discussed at NZIHL meeting, so presumably the rules are not set in stone?
[/quote:it4bsake]Plod will be referring to the Trim meeting I suspect, which was 2 May. The events manual is amended at the AGM, which amended the mouth guard rules, confirmed the overtime/shootouts, and hacked the warm up. TRIM meetings are only really about interpretation and mechanics.
The only rule change since then is they’ve fixed up the section in the new shootouts which was contradictory. But that’s copied straight from the IIHF rules (also contradictory).
"Azzy77":it4bsake wrote:Also if this is True how come Jacque and the guy that dominated him last year didn’t get banned for next game.
[/quote:it4bsake]Where does it say in the IIHF rules that fighting automatically leads to a ban for the next game? No where. Subsequent discipline (or lack of) is handed in the events manual.
Kyle
MemberApart from any moral question about fighting, we follow the IIHF rules, which are fairly clear on the matter.

MemberYou mean the two people who were fully aware of the competition but who are complaining about the lack of advertising?
Someone has already offered to me that they will put together a team of random people next year if there is demand.
