MemberGraham has it right. Beginners starts next week, I got confused and told Sophia it was starting this week so she emailed a bunch of people. I’ve emailed her to correct myself, hopefully she got it.
(And beginners is at 7, not 6).
Kyle
MemberThat’s my bad, beginners start next Sunday.
They start at 7 because we sometimes have another session booked in at 6pm.
Kyle
MemberNote that our beginners start on the ice at 7pm from this Sunday onwards, so the session will be time-limited.

MemberDn Penguins lost 5-0 to Rusty Blades. Oldwolves came down and had a 4-4 draw with jurassics. night owls went up and lost…. 6-0 or something. Dunedin Ducks lost about 8-0. Gore had a nice relaxed game losing 7-2 to Adelaide.
Kyle
MemberYeah, I did mention that to someone, but I think they were busy organising ten other things.
Kyle
MemberPenguins are the Dunedin As, Ducks are the B grade team.
Penguins, Canterbury, Brisbane Rusty Blades and Melbourne Marauderers are in the A grade. The rest are in the B grade.
Brisbane won it last time, 1-0 over Dunedin Penguins. Dunedin Penguins should be stronger this time, but I believe Brisbane might have picked up as well. I’m not sure how strong Melbourne will be – last time they were pretty good, but who knows if they have the same players.
Nite Owls are half Australian players, half a bunch of randoms thrown in from around the place as they couldn’t get a full team together.
Saturday’s Penguins/Blades game should be worth seeing, as well as the final (could easily be the same two teams).
Kyle
MemberMexico is the team to beat after they were relegated down last year. The other teams NZ should be confident against, South Africa could be a battle.
Kyle
MemberI think assuming that because there could be a rink in a city that suddenly there can be a national league team is assuming a lot.
Dunedin has had a club and a rink already and the transition to being a National League team is hard. Starting with no club, coaches, officials, youth players coming up, equipment, plus all your players having to transition from inline… that’s massive. That could take 6 – 8 years.
Kyle
MemberI’d imagine it’ll be quite likely that Graham will repeat his 21st pick up game on the 28th. No doubt he’ll confirm closer to the time.

MemberNZ lost to Iceland 4-0 in the semis, and lost to Korea 5-6 in overtime (shorthanded) in the bronze medal playoff. Regan Wilson got a goal+assist and Heath Dunlop two goals in that last game. Paris Heyd 5+game misconduct for boarding.
Looks like NZ struggled with discipline and the referees – 49 minutes to Korea’s 6 minutes in penalties.
Kyle
MemberSo it is. Conveniently abbreviated to ISL for reasons which aren’t clear to me.
Kyle
MemberNZ lost 5-1 to Australia. Play Israel (top team from the other group) in a semi final on the 9th.
Kyle
MemberAnd scratch that. Lyndal has had to cancel as the rink will now only give her an ice booking at 4pm, so staff don’t have to wait around until after 7.
Kyle
MemberOh yeah. That too

Kyle
