MemberOh, shots were 60-16.
The swarm player spun around and flung it at the net. The defender didn’t play at it, the goalie obviously thought that he would because he didn’t either.
Kyle
MemberI heard over 80 penalty minutes.

Member4 – 1 end of the 1st. 7-1 end of the 2nd. 9-1 end of the game. Jens in net for Thunder. Thunder didn’t really start to play until the third period.
Couple of weak goals from Thunder – one sat behind the goalie and the defence didn’t push it into the goalie’s pads so swarm got it. Last goal was a dump from the blue line and the defence and goalie both let it go in.
Four minors to Thunder, one to swarm. Wasn’t a very high intensity game from both sides.

MemberYeah. I think they both need to happen – social A hockey, and prem level contact hockey. There’s contact hockey running at the moment already, and people who don’t/can’t play contact need games too, otherwise they won’t have played since June.
It may be that A dihl is sometimes non-checking, and sometimes is checking, or it may be that the prem grade is run separately.
Kyle
MemberIt’s been discussed. We’re aware that there needs to be a progression in the club to push both juniors and seniors to higher levels in checking hockey, and at present that’s very weak. In the planning for next year we’ll be looking at trying to set up a prem league in Dunedin – most likely three teams, probably running March – May – similar to what Canterbury has but it’ll be pre-NZIHL.
DIHL isn’t the vehicle for that though. It’s a social league with people of different ages, genders etc. What has been discussed is that while it’s non-checking, players and officials will be reminded that it’s not a non-contact league, and we’ll be expecting the A grade to be high speed, high intensity games and there will be physical contact as allowed by the rules.
DIHL is being organised by Pete Lamb, dihl@dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi.

[/quote:r9yj3wbf]I think we need clarification here. Does Vince have to play in the final to earn the upgrade? What if he’s riding pine all game?

MemberDevils will win it because it will be at home. Could be up in the air if it was in Queenstown, but I hear Stampede have leaked a few players as they run down to the end of the season so Devils will take at least one game in the final round in Queenstown.

Drawing the puck back through his legs to flip it around over his trailing leg manoeuvre, as the puck is no longer moving forward the resulting missed goal would have been disallowed (some kid pointed it out in the stand).
[/quote:3h8hs142]Depends on how they do it. From the IIHF Case Book:
[quote:3h8hs142]1. During the course of the Penalty Shot (PS) or Game Winning Shots (GWS) where the player is using the Spin-O-Rama type move the Referee and Linesman shall focus on the following items:
a. That a player is in a continuous movement toward the net while controlling the puck
b. If the player and the puck stops continuous movement towards the net PS is completed
c. If the player contacts goalkeeper before the puck enters the net, the PS is completed. No goal shall be allowed[/quote:3h8hs142]The puck is allowed to go back, as long as the player continues to go forward. You can pull the puck backwards, as long as you continue to skate forwards while doing it. Also see this one:
[quote:3h8hs142]Situation 1
A player taking a Penalty Shot loses control of the puck or over-skates with it while attempting his shot on goal.
Ruling: The player is allowed to go back and retrieve the puck if he loses control of it or over-skates with it as long as the puck is moving towards the opponent’s goal net.[/quote:3h8hs142]Puck still travelling forward. I would have given up on that penalty shot.

[/quote:2de31dux]You mean he wasn’t replaced by a skater or goalie?
Kyle
MemberStill comes down to Stampede – Devils. If Stampede win both they finish top.

MemberPaul Henry on ice would be too tempting I think. Such an idiot.
