MemberHear hear. Having a son who’s trying to play goal, getting coaching and having the goalie get more out of practice than a hundred pucks thrown at him is not easy.

MemberCRD devil player got a suspension two seasons ago for getting a game misconduct, and going to leave, but then turning around and coming back and having a second go at a Botany player. Cross-checked him in the face and did some damage I understand.
Means he missed the final.

MemberI think it’s a NZIHF rule, not IIHF.
The IIHF rulebook says (the old one):
[quote:363conrp]➤1. A Game Misconduct penalty does not incurr an automatic suspension, except for that game, but the Proper Authorities shall have the power to suspend the player or the team official from participating in further games.
➤ 2. In championships and tournament games, any player or team official assessed his second Game Misconduct penalty shall be automatically suspended for his team?s next championship or tournament game.
…
➤ 2. A player or team official incurring a Match penalty shall be awarded an
automatic further suspension, which means that he shall be suspended
for the next game as a minimum, and his case shall be dealt with by the
Proper Authorities.[/quote:363conrp]Since they got a game misconduct penalty, all the officials do is send the game sheet and any report to the authorities, it’s up to them what they do with it.

MemberI find myself having to explain why third man in is so serious quite often. People often view it as “was just trying to help his friend”, whereas I view it as “action most likely to incite an all in brawl”.

MemberWe, like most of the rest of the world of ice hockey, play under the IIHF rules. It would be pretty bizarre to change the rules for one small league when every other time those players step on the ice they’ll be subject to the IIHF rules.

MemberFrom the NZIHL rules:
A hearing of the Disciplinary Committee shall be conducted where;
(a) A Game Misconduct or Match Penalty is called by a Game Referee based on offences described in the current IIHF Official Rule Book that incur an automatic suspension and for the avoidance of doubt shall include any offence in which Match Penalties are called by a Game Referee.
(b) A complaint is received by the General Manager of the NZIHL, provided such a complaint is received within 7 days of the alleged incident.Kyle

MemberThe only response I’ve ever seen from Eaden to a hit is to get up with a big grin on his face (he also manages to dodge a crapload along the boards). I think he likes being hit.
Kyle
MemberI can add that the Alexandra team is short some players and have asked for five players to be added. Any Dunedin players that want to go play this weekend, contact me on president@dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi and I’ll try and get you in.

MemberI’ve seen Jacque fight once before, a prem game in Dunedin when Ryan O’Keefe (currently Stampede) took offence to a hit or something and started something that Jacque definitely finished. Ryan took a real pounding.
Ryan was giving up about 40 kg and maybe four inches, plus a dozen or so years?

I have sent a txt during a period break in a running time game before, you have to be a bit quicker then.

MemberI’ve opened communications with Christchurch a couple of weeks ago to try and get an annual Dunedin/Christchurch weekend started up (probably just one team first year, but build from there). Haven’t gotten any response yet.
