Might have made himself ineligible. There’s other hockey on that weekend as well.

[/quote:n1j950e1]Yeah. I believe they’ve been asked not to use that.
Next game to go to USA. Decider in Dunedin. Woo.
KyleMemberHerald article: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/ar … d=10740496
“In the first five minutes the opposing captains Derek Armstrong and Aaron Miller downed sticks and dropped their gloves to line each other up. It seemed a little contrived – as if they were trying to prove they were fair dinkum – as they slugged awkward punches at each other while their team mates stood around watching. “
KyleMemberLast night’s game was tied 3-3, Canada won it in a shoot out.
Check out the excited crowd: http://yfrog.com/h8pf9lej
Not a foam finger in sight!
The arena does look pretty amazing: http://yfrog.com/gz2xrroj
KyleMemberSlapshot productions have posted some photos of the two teams practicing tonight:

Says the shooting is really accurate.

[/quote:1ucjo12u]I agree it’s unrealistic, but if you had professional players, why would you travel back and forth every week. You could travel to Australia for a week and probably play three rounds – only cross over twice in the whole season. If they’re professional players you don’t need to restrict your games to weekends.
KyleMemberNo. At the recent round in Queenstown the Canterbury goalie got frustrated – apparently with the goal judge – and smacked a camera inside the goal with his stick, possibly damaging it.
KyleMemberI’ve been waiting to see rosters and how things went further up the country before deciding whether I’d go see them. Certainly not looking likely at present.
KyleMemberStampede beat Red Devils twice over the weekend: 5-3 and 5-2.
Swarm beat Admirals 5-3 this evening.
Assuming that Stampede and Red Devils both beat Admirals, Red Devils still have the bye, so it will come down to how Stampede go against Thunder to see who makes the final – Stampede need 4 points out of a potential 6 I think.
KyleMemberMatch penalty.
Harder to get out of the way in the top leagues – play is much faster, and it’s more difficult for players to avoid you when the other team is checking them. And none of us can skate as fast backwards as national league players can skate forwards.
KyleMemberThat leaves the points table in a not quite as interesting as you’d hope place.
Thunder are now definitely out. They kept themselves in it winning one of the games in Qtown, but needed to take one out of Canterbury last weekend and have Canterbury not sweep the Swarm up in Auckland. Admirals well out of it despite having two games in hand.
Stampede are still in it, though next weekend up in Queenstown is pretty crucial for them against Canterbury. Swarm have the admirals so likely to be picking up 6 points, Stampede need to sweep all six games and hope that either Admirals or Thunder take some points off Canterbury or Swarm. They’re approaching the mathematical chance only stage.
KyleMemberThunder take our admirals 10-1. Canterbury take out Swarm 1-0.

Someone told me they were scared this could set the growth of hockey back 10 years in NZ.And for those who do know hockey are potentially going to be very disappointed at what they paid a lot of money for.
[/quote:3sw0x4ns]This is my concern about what will happen a few weeks from now. Not that the hockey won’t be average – that I expect from the numbers and players that are now coming. People who know hockey well won’t be impressed. It’s the thousands of people that don’t know hockey – if it’s so bad that they can tell… our sport has been screwed. We’ve all worked too hard making slow steady progress to have someone take it away.
KyleMemberCome see all five games at Winter Games NZ for probably about the same ticket price. All teams are bringing at least three lines, so you’ll see them skating in the third period too.
KyleMember"vpatrol":2src9tnc wrote:so if we have a pro ref turn up, we won’t worry about inviting you Kyle since you would decline the invite since you would rather discuss amongst yourselves how to improve.
[/quote:2src9tnc]Yeah, that’s exactly what I said:
