MemberOn the positive side, he’s currently helping coach our little tykes in Learn to Play over the school holidays. Great to see players giving back.

MemberI haven’t seen stampede yet this season, but picked Red Devils to win in a close final. Third time lucky.

[/quote:2kcabmfd]We played Admirals up there so I don’t know much about the game.
Last year he was 5th on their stats (but missed a couple of games). Three of the guys above him aren’t with the team anymore though.
So I’m going to adjust myself to sit on the fence and go with 2-2 split.

MemberI’ve taken Stampede 2-0. Agree with Aaron about this season increasingly looking like a two horse race.
Kyle
MemberIf Jeff isn’t playing then I’ll change my vote to 3 games. He’s a big part of that team.

Kyle
MemberI’d like to say more, but I went with 1 as well. I think we’ll struggle to beat Admirals in Auckland, but split the games down here. Admirals have played better again both Stampede and Red Devils, who are the form teams.

MemberWhere are you guys practicing now Vince? A couple of years ago I heard you were practicing in a school hall or something.
Must be hard to keep a team playing at the top level with no rink and not many opportunities to play games.

The player suffered a mild concussion in game one and was thrown into the role of coach in the 3rd period keeping the heart of the team strong. Definitely an inspiring story for anyone who was there.
[/quote:trmmzku9]Simon says that he started playing hockey after seeing the Mighty Ducks movie.
That’s not too far off Ducks 2, when Charlie gives up his spot so that the star player, returning from injury, can play, and helps coach instead.
Except Charlie wasn’t injured. And Emilio didn’t leave the bench. But otherwise close!

[/quote:35h5yqw6]I’m not really sure what this discussion is achieving. The cost to enter a team in the national league is quite high, a lot of this comes from the players. If putting a bunch of logos on the top and around the rink reduces this cost to the players, great. Sure it might not look as good, but for a few hundreds bucks less cost I wouldn’t care what I skated in.
Good on Thunder for getting out there and signing up the companies. If other teams want to do something different, good for them.

If you are going to make a new strip atleast make it cool and appealing, because this strip is not good to look at. Why did the thunder change the jerseyts in the first place? who designed them? Whats wrong with the strip from last year?. Cheers guys
[/quote:c2qeobsy]No I understand you, you don’t seem to understand the point of having sponsors.
Thunder seem to have done a great job this year getting sponsors for the team – there’s about a dozen or so.
Part of the deal with the sponsors will be having them on the playing tops. Hence the need for new tops.
I’m not sure how much the sponsorship will be worth all up, but it will be worth much more than the value of the uniforms, hence their cost isn’t a prime concern. It’s a profit-making exercise.
