[/quote:jsi47y0q]Yes, but there’s a lot more cost to build an ice rink for a bunch of people to dance on, where the walls just constrain the ice, and an ice rink for a bunch of people to crash into each other and fling pucks around.
Kyle
MemberIt’s news to me, and I haven’t heard anything through the NZIHF about it.
And lets be honest, $65 – $100 tickets would be chronic underpricing for USA-Canada, particularly since they’d have to build the rinks in both places.
I’ll see if I can find out more though.
(My long term dream would be to have pre-season NHL here. Two NHL teams playing a couple of pre-season games in New Zealand as a promotional exercise).

Friday: Ice Blacks In Dunedin http://www.ch9.co.nz/content/ice-blacks-dunedin (that’s a text only story, why a tv station does that I have no idea…)

MemberThunder are apparently not playing any games against the other teams. This was an idea raised, but never followed through.
Next week we had the impression that IBs were playing Turkey in a pre-tournament friendly, this is also not happening (the club night schedule is incorrect). Turkey have apparently not yet confirmed their arrival, but most teams will only be here a day or two in advance of the tournament.
Kyle
MemberWon 5-3. Was 3-3 early in the third, but IBs got a couple of late goals. First period Storm were pushing hard, way more shots, but last period shots were 18-8 to the IBs. Game was pretty OK, not too much flow. Bit testy in the third, 5 + game for check from behind and two 2+10s for roughing.

[/quote:v44295fq]Umm, nope.
But there could be an argument that discount providers get a ‘sample’ card. Callum has the cards though, so you’ll need to harass him.

MemberHi Dougie,
I’ve emailed you back.
I should also have said that you can register here: http://dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/registration/
And then transfer the money electronically.
Kyle
MemberAh yup, that shouldn’t be a problem.
I just want to check one thing first.
We should probably have an ‘admin’ or similar link on the menu, which could lead to online registration, Board minutes etc.
Kyle
MemberAnd pay commercial prices for ice time.
