Member13 – 7 to the Jets over the Green dudes I think.

MemberIt’s not ‘Midgets’, it’s ‘Midget, Junior, Senior Southern Rep players’. The four or so Dunedin midgets who played for Southern this year, and who should be looking at Thunder next year or the year after.
Kyle
MemberI think Jack, along with me, you, and a bunch of other people, isn’t on the list of eligible players.
Oh, and he’s a wuss, but nothing wrong with that.
Kyle
MemberPretty slim. They’re only taking 20 skaters she’ll probably fill those slots on the first night, if she doesn’t it’ll just be a one-off game, not a series.
And it’s a prem contact game, so you might get turned away anyway.
Kyle
MemberBecause 5 games takes it pretty close to Xmas and I presume she thought people would struggle to play then. She did have a way of deciding the winner, but I can’t recall what she said now.

MemberFor Harrison, and anyone else who was there last night:
559 – HANDLING THE PUCK WITH THE HANDS BY A PLAYER
a) Any player, except the goalkeeper, who closes his hand on the puck shall be assessed a:
➤ Minor penaltyIf the puck is near you and you want to handpass it to your team in your own zone, bat it with the glove, don’t close your hand around it and then throw it.
In particular, don’t do it in the goal crease, that’s a penalty shot.
Best moment: 1st period, Bode putting Harry into the boards and down on the ice from a stationary check. Owned.

[/quote:3mxg75iz]I think I’m going to see a band at Arc that night.
But my question was whether you needed any organised. We’ll be having a referee for the oldtimers game afterwards, so we could probably find someone to double-shift.

Perhaps as a group I would be interested, but not with Larry.
[/quote:13oiorn6]OK, sounds hopeful. Perhaps grab some people on the Wednesday night and see if anyone is interested? At this stage all we really need is an outline of a DIHL season/seasons, so that we can book the ice and fit it into our schedule. If someone can keep me informed I’ll keep the committee up-to-date.

MemberAs a footnote somewhat, to all this discussion.
As part of its planning for next year, this week the DIHA committee heard from Larry N. on the DIHL. He was asked to prepare a plan for 2009, instead he came along with a report for 2008 and what happened. He was then asked what his plans were for next year, and without getting into any details, he didn’t commit for 2009. He put down some very vague conditions for his involvement next year, which consisted of there “being a mandate for the DIHL” in the constitution. Which people took to mean he wanted the position to have some position in the constitution, but it was very unclear. Some people got rather angry at how he was treating the whole thing.
I don’t know if he involved you at all with his report Kara. I think there’s issues there which you should consider yourself not part of – ie, the committee is not unhappy with you in any way.
Anyway, it’s unclear whether Larry will be involved with the DIHL next year, and speaking personally, it’s unclear, if he expressed a wish to be involved in running it, whether the committee would be happy with that.
The committee is going ahead with planning that there will be a DIHL of some sort, and ensuring that ice time is booked. We will be looking for someone to organise that competition. The committee will (at least I intend to try and get it to do so) set some broad guidelines for the DIHL (its purpose, basic structure) and then hope that someone will step up with a proposal to run it – outlining dates, numbers of teams, costs etc – and then put that plan into action and run a good competition or competitions for next year. The committee thinks the DIHL is very important, and wants us to have a good competition next year, without some of the personality problems that have happened this year.
If anyone – Kara, Chris, Ryan, etc, individually or as a group wants to pick that up and run with it, that would be good. I thought that maybe some people from the Beasts – Callum, Jason etc – might be interested as well.
If anyone is, let me know, on here or via email.
Kyle
MemberI’m not sure they throw them on the ice with the intention of re-using them.
I don’t know prices, but probably not too much more than a hat with team branding on it, and certainly less than an octopus would cost you in detroit.
Kyle
MemberIt should be whatever someone organises it to be. If no one steps up to organise it, it’ll just be a forum discussion

Last time it was organised by Bode, she isn’t currently on contract so is unlikely to do so again, particularly given Thunder’s uncertain future. Someone will need to organise 20-something players and some ice time.
